I hope this question doesn't sound dumb. 
I use a laptop and have a separate monitor for editing.  I calibrated the monitor.  I had to bring down the brightness quite a bit to get it close (138 was as low as I could get it). 
Is the white point too low? 
Also, my screen is really dark now, can I increase the brightness again?

Also, I'm familiar with layers but not knowledgeable enough to know how to import an image so it shows up in a layer.  Can you help me with that?  I have my logo saved as a PNG, size 500x500px as a PSD file on my computer. 

What would you suggest is a good size for sharing them with others via messenger or another app source, not necessarily for posting on social media or uploading to a website... more for phone viewing?
