I have adjusted brightness using the display panel, as you advised. When I checked it on the keyboard it is only on two bars of brightness. Does this seem wildly low or doesn't matter?

I got to this point and received two error messages when I tried to 'open custom'. I also couldn't see their grid of images, it was just a blank grey screen. I have attached the two error messages I received. Thank you for your help.

Mine came back at 67. If I adjusted my monitor brightness one stop higher it went to 100. So I left it at 67. Is this ok?

I'm just reading through all of your instructions prior to doing my monitor calibration. My iMac is this version: iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019). I just wanted to check which display technology I would click when I get to this step?
