Hi Damien, it's been awhile since I've taken the raw class or even asked a question. So here I am. My brain is mush (I just had a baby) but could you tell me how to replace the background in my families pictures I have a handful of these where my background isn't enough and I would just like to extend it. 

You say you throw away the jpg. I do this as mom-tog, so mostly my family pics. Do you also throw away family jpgs and keep the completed psd? and just convert to jpg when you need it?
