  1. Hi Damien, I've just been reading through forum info & your info pages on printing & CMYK etc. I'm at the pointy end now of wanting to get my flyer printed by Moo.com. I've been reading through their specifications & this is what they require of me when uploading my own design etc. These are the requirements they list out. - Output option Adobe PDF/X-1a:2001 - In the colour box select: Coated FOGRA39 This above section I understand, it's just this bit I'm not sure about. - Make sure all fonts are embedded or outlined. I have my flyer with all of it's text layers & design layers in tact for obvious reasons. I've made sure my text size is larger than the minimum size recommended for printing. I've chosen colours that should print well, dark coloured text on a light background. Are you able to offer advice on the above bit? Cheers, Sam
  2. Its a stinker of a photo, but I'm using it for practice, this is my attempt. It's a practice makes perfect story isn't it. I just kept increasing/decreasing brush size around the ned to mask in black. I've noticed after lots of eyeballing these finished portraits is they always have the horses head turned against their body so their whiskers don't need to be masked around. Nightmare masking around whiskers! So I just bull dozed straight over the top in this image... It's bloody rough masking so plenty more practice to be had. Bit painful using a mouse I'm discovering.
  3. Hi Damien I'm just after your advice on replicating this kind of equine headshot processing wise. I've attached my SOOR images - I think I was on the right track in terms of taking the photos just inside the stable door for the dark background etc. However I think my posing of the nag is a bit dodgy... I did get 2 shots of said nag posing similar to how these shots are done however my flaming focus is soft! Oh well - something to try again! For the purposes of having a crack at replicating this processing style here's my attempt - I used a solid fill layer, inverted it and then used the marquee tool to just select the area I wanted to play in. No idea if I'm on the right track or not! But I wanted to try first before asking. http://www.helenrigbyphotography.com/equine-headshots-kent-horse-photography/
  4. Awesome thanks Brian - I didn't even think to look at Adobe for a help page - I could have done that myself! Apologies @Damien Symonds Funny cat memes are the best! May as well get some space back on the Mac!
  5. Hi Brian / Team Just putting it out there to see what your thoughts are on un-installing Lr? Since I've converted to Bridge I've not opened Lr once! I was thinking since I've not opened it once since moving to BridgeI may as well un-install. Any traps or pitfalls - things to be aware of? Cheers, Sam.
  6. Lol I read that and scratched my head a bit, went searching and found it!! Then I refreshed this thread and your answer popped up. Cheers everyone!
  7. Hi Damien / Admin Team I have a question regarding grids in PS. I'm playing around trying to create a collage, and can't seem to bring up the Edit - Preferences part to adjust my grid spacings/settings. To turn the grids on, I go View > Show>Grid which brings the grids up no worries. I'm stuck after that bit! Then when I go to Edit> I don't have preferences showing? Am I missing something? Or am I just too tired from my newborn son!! LOL. http://www.damiensymonds.net/2011/05/grids-in-photoshop.html
