Hi Damien.  I've been at home with my mom in hospice.  She passed away last week.  I'm getting ready to resume the class!

I decided to wait on the larger monitor and use my existing monitor on a wheeled cart.  That way I can pull the cart close to the client.

Ouch!  Ok.  My wheeled cart it is.

Well, I projected my images on a tv for a while and the photos looked awful because I couldn't really get the brightness and contrast to match my images on my computer screen.

It was just a thought.  Right now I have a 28" Dell monitor on a wheeled cart that I bring closer to the client.  It's small, but the monitor is great.  By "hideously expensive", what are you thinking?

Hi Damien.  I'm looking for a 40" computer monitor to hang on my wall for my sales appointments.  I don't need to calibrate to edit, but I certainly want to get a monitor to calibrate for viewing the images.  Do you have a recommendation for something that is a reasonable price?

Hi Damien!  I just got a new iMac with the 5k display.  5120 by 2880 resolution, 500 nits brightness, and wide color (p3).

All a foreign language to me!  Apple said that they have gotten good reviews of their build in calibration device.  Thoughts?  Also if I do use the built in device, which display profile do I want.  I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find it.  The choices I believe I'd chose from are sRBG IEC61966-2.1 or wide gamut RGB?  Can you help?

If you think I should just use my colormunki display, are there instructions for this particular monitor?

Ange, did you use the build in calibration option?  If so, what is your display profile set to?

I didn't expect a perfect match.  I got it close enough

I'm looking at my prints on the laptop vs the external, and the external is definitely brighter.  Better safe than sorry.  It's about time to recalibrate it anyway.

Ok, after 4 tries, I think my laptop monitor is calibrated properly.  Now, when I am ready for the external monitor, can I click the button that says "match this to another display profiled with Colormunki....."?

Ok, I'll update when and if the photo brightens/darkens with the laptop screen!  Thank you so much!

I'm planning on doing the laptop without having the external connected.  Not sure if it matters or not.

Quick question, what is "enable ADC"?

I'm going to calibrate both the laptop and external that is at home tonight.  I'll play with PS on the laptop only and see if it happens again!

Well, to be honest, I've not edited on the laptop screen since I purchased the external monitors!

It's just once in a while when I click back on Photoshop from something else like mail or the internet.  And, it's not the whole screen that dims/brightens, just the photo that I have open.

Good to know!  By the way, the dimming/brightening when I click on Photoshop is still happening!  Grr.....

Well, do I win the award for the most stupid question today?  LOL

I dowloaded the newest software, and now the settings are different than in your instructions.  Here is the first screen.  Suggestions?  When I click the Technology type, there are no choices.

Brian, I've been on vacation until now.  It happened again after I unchecked the box.  I'm going to calibrate the externals again to see if I can get it back to normal.

Yes, I use the same calibration device.  Color Munki I one display or something like that. 

No new equipment, but Apple did have to re install the operating system about 3 months ago.

The monitor at home is on Standard.  I can check the one at work tomorrow.

It happens occasionally.  And, I would say it's been within the last 2 months.
