It’s 4 years old. I wiped and installed according to the links the guy at Apple sent me. I’m running the latest OS version. 
 

its also weird that it won’t mount my LaCie drive, yet it will load the drive I’m using for time machine backups. My iMac will mount the LaCie though. 

Hi, my MacBook Pro keeps coming up with a connect to wifi and saying it needs a critical update. It won’t let you do this and I took it to Apple and they suggested wiping and starting again. Which I did! 
 

it still won’t start properly  

sometimes I have to restart in safe mode but then it still might take a dozen times of restarting to even get in. 
 

it’s doing my head in. Any suggestions? 

The card is only 3 months old. And yep the firmware is up to date. 
 

they are in America, is there one you recommended in Australia? 

Hi Brian,  I definitely had a card in the camera at the time. I didn't touch the card. The only thing I changed was the battery. Im missing around 1500 files. 

I am so frustrated as I have no idea where these files have gone and none of the recovery programs have been able to recover them. ? 

Hi Brian, in desperation I brought licences for both Wondershare Recoverit and disk drill. Both said they recovered 17,000 images. It recovered images taken last year in Nov and Dec but none of the the ones that I am actually trying to recover. 

I know this sounds weird, but I changed my battery before the musical began, would that have somehow???caused me to lose those images. 

The one Im trying I haven't brought the license for as I was hoping to see the previews and see if it actually recovered the ones I need or not. 

Im having trouble with any of the recovery programs showing me previews of the .cr3 files.  Do you know of a one that does or how to fix this? 

Yep, got a cfexpress one just now.

I found a card reader for the cf express but in the meantime, is it possible to run a recovery with the card still in the camera?

Doing that only gave me under 1gb of extra space. 

Yes I got the clean my Mac. I’ll try to do as above. 

Almost 75gb free.  I actually have no idea where the files are that are taking up space. I dont keep the raw files on my MacBook.  Ive always wondered what the "other" is on the storage bar.

Yes the stuff on the lacie drive is very important. It's all images from shoots. I keep every shoot on my harddrive to make more room on the Mac for editing etc. 

I thought it was 32 gb but its only 16gb. 

Will do as soon as I get home. But that first screenshot you posted used to show my LaCie but doesn’t now. Won’t even give me the option. 

The LaCie is fairly new. It’s 3TB And has at least 2.5 TB free space. No, I don’t use it for time machine backup.

Do you know why I can’t use it as a scratch disc? 

I have a Mac laptop running Catalina  10.15 and Photoshop Cc21. It is over 2 years old, and has 32GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 38GB free out of 200GB. The last time I shut down was earlier today. I rarely run a cleanup program.

Hi Brian, 

ever since the upgrade, I can’t allocate my LaCie drive as an extra scratch disc in preferences and keep running out of room. I was always able to before the upgrade without having to do anything to the drive. 
 

Last night in frustration I uninstalled photoshop and reinstalled. Now of course I’ve lost all my preferred settings ? but it still won’t let me select the LaCie drive.

so if you could achieve that improvement without raw, why would I need the raw class before I could fix the others?
