I started by comparing to the screen at my desk with the computer. Holding the print to the left of the monitor facing the window. It seemed at least two stops darker. So I though let me just walk out side and see if they lighten up any. Of course they were a bit brighter but still very similar to the above screen shot as far as brightness and darkness.

I have been editing with my desk in the same place for years and getting good prints back. There is a lot of north window light where I sit. 

I know I am grasping at straws but is it the windows and this calibrating Spyder?

ok got second order from ProDPI and the screen shot above (light/dark) the image in my hand is the darker image.

these set of images for my clients look like shit. I would never use me again. 

I feel like I am in quicksand. I can't edit because chances are I will have to re-edit and clients are asking "where are my photos"

Hi! Got my prints back from ProDPI the color is much better and very close.

the highlight areas and skin especially  in my creek image (darker image) still look kinda muddy.

better but still a bit dark and muddy..... do I lower my brightness a bit?

OK I am still waiting on prints from Prodpi....meanwhile I thought what the heck let me upload some images to see what they look like on their uploading software.

WTF!!!!!! I don't wanna freak because I don't have prints yet but what the hell? 

 Is this normal?

The lighter image is my bridge/CRAW image the darker image is the prodpi upload software.

What gets me is some of the images translate fine, in color etc, but some still look dark on their uploader. Like when I am scrolling through their upload software along the bottom some are correct color that matche my computer and then there are some that look like they were never edited however in my camera raw/bridge they look fine.

One last question....

i just noticed that 

bridge images do not match in color to camera raw or  PS

what color settings should it be on?

edit>color settings

it does not offer my calibration setting

north American general purpose 2 matchs best

lol yes that would ideal but they have products that I want to give to clients  

cheaper and faster............I know you get what ya pay for!

These r the images I have from old computer edit and prints in hand from the old lab....they match in color and contrast to me.

Yes these seem to match.

i looked at an indoor image (light)

an outdoor image (darker)

I wonder if my old lab corrected my images? I never chose that choice in my order. No, you said they look good on your end. Looking forward to their print getting to me.

So I am wondering..... I still do order product from the old lab for clients who get that the quality is awesome.

how the hell do people order different product from different printers.....

The images I do have from old lab were edited on my old computer. Which I never calibrated. (Don't scream) but it always printed good.

this new Mac printed well with my old lab. But I don't have any of those images. That  were edited with this new computer.  All given to my clients.

i love the old lab and quality takes time I get it my clients dont. Everyone wants their prints yesterday 

I have green images from the new lab I would like to use. 

No images from the lab I had previous been using.

i am still curious about this process .

i have got to be doing something wrong when I set the color display to match the crap image and then set up spider >calibrate to only come back to the image looking nice and not crap green.

I know this is going to sound nuts but I have thought about this to hard and I am sure making more of it than there is

once I get a correct match with printer do I need to re-edit all my images for clients who have the crap color profile?

I sent for prints about two weeks ago (new print co.) they were green..

I followed your tut....got images they were pretty good....but I wanted a little more accurate so went with what this new lab said calibrated to that, sent prints and green again..........

so here I sit........

waiting on my original lab from the first calibration 

have three sets from the printer I would like to use....green,decent,green

so now today I decided lets go back to Damiens tut recalibrate and hope I get something decent and reorder a 4 batch from new printer that they say looks good now.

nope I am waiting on some images from them as we speak......early next week maybe

so it is pointless to edit anything till I see prints on Monday?

my white point now is 6500k this was after it calibrated......

previous lab was spot on but terribly slow

this new lab is the only other I have tested with

ok not sure if this makes a difference ......I just finished a session and uploaded these images I shot around 5200k 5500k they looked fine on back of camera monitor and they are blue/green on my iMac I calibrated this morning.
