Thoughts??? I am thinking that maybe I can get the GF to pitch in $200 to give my old computer to my daughter to use for playing her games (star stable) It will be much better than what she currently has...

I just looked up my order history from newegg and found that I built my computer in Jan. of 2010, so we are going on almost 9 years. I added the gpu, a AMD Radeon HD 6700 series graphics card with 1GB of ram. I've increased the ram from 8 to 12, and of course added some hard drive space, a 500GB Samsung ssd, as well as 3 other drives totaling about 8TB of storage space.
My case is a generic thermaltake case I believe. I could re-use it if I absolutely needed to, but of course there is some wiggle room there as they have many different price points for cases. I suspect you are correct that I will need a new psu as well, I have a cx650m by corsair now, and I think that it is being used pretty heavily currently.
Here is what I currently have for a motherboard and cpu.GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

To start off, my budget is between the $500-$700 range. I already have all the optical and hard drives I need, and peripherals. My current gpu is old and not supported by LR or PS, so I would need one of those. I have a 3 display setup. 2 displays support dvi, display port(and hdmi I suppose) and one only supports dvi, and vga. I would like the option to continue adding hard drives down the line. I am currently running 4 internal drives(1ssd, and 3 normal drives).
What are your suggestions as far as parts goes? I do absolutely no gaming, just photo work, documents, and browsing the internet. My current pc is about 7 years old and I am running out of available places to upgrade. 16gb is the max ram it will accept in it's 2 slots. I have 12 currently. -
I will have to figure out how to get it to overwrite each backup. That should be sufficient for now.

Currently my system is backed up to carbonite online. I had also used the Windows Backup and Restore (apparently from Windows 7) on my Windows 10 machine. I had set it to backup to a drive set up on a freenas server. As far as I can see though, only my main drive ( a 500GB SSD) was being backed up to the server, which for now I am okay with until I can and much more storage to the nas. The problem is that it is using almost 4TB of space for that single drive. I believe it just keeps saving a drive image, and then also the data separately, but not deleting the old info.
Is there a better set of software that will do a better job and only update the files that change, rather then backing up the same data? I plan to get an external drive to also backup my nearly 3 TB of photos, but I assume this software would work for that as well.

I guess because I am not in the class, but have been around long before the class existed I just don't recall it being mentioned, nor is it mentioned in either of your 4 articles about sharpening. Oh well, guess I have been wrong.

So you do suggest getting rid of the +25 that is applied by default in Lr and acr? I have never heard this before. I have heard many times though that sharpening is dependent upon how the image is going to be viewed.

Have you ever heard of something as crazy as zeroing out all sharpening settings that are default when opening a photo in lightroom or acr?? Is there a valid reason to do so, or to create a profile to do this upon import every time?

Thanks Damien!

I am editing a file for a friend who has a client that wants a canvas printed similar to the image I have attached here. My question is about whether or not there will be any issues with printing of that solid black color, or text for that matter. I have seen many posts about banding, or such and not sure if it applies here. If so, can you send me to the right post where this has been done before.
Thanks!
Building a new pc before the end of the year. Suggestions?

I will use the hard drives from my current machine, and put my daughters into my old one. So we are good on storage.
