Janice Smith
I know we should rely on the histogram when viewing photos on the back of the camera, however, should i have my lcd brightness set to something in particular?
Anna-Lena Ström McGrath
The LCD on the back of your camera is showing you a jpeg preview...if you are shooting raw, it's not very accurate. While it's good to keep an eye on the LCD for clippings and adjust your exposure triangle, it's not reliable 100%. The histogram in your raw editing program is what you should rely on. I know many people who attempt to adjust the brightness of their LCD to more closely match their computer. It will never be perfect or 100% accurate, but doing so may help in some situations. And of course going outside in bright light or viewing in a dark room will make your screen appear differently too.
