  1. Thanks for explaining. My computer has had a couple of issues this year so it sounds like SyncToy is a good idea.
  2. Hi Brian, That is a relief to know I have been doing the copying and pasting right! Thank you. The 321 Backup Strategy sounds good. I'll go an put some more of my important files on Dropbox too, not just the two external hard drives. I'm not really sure what the Cloud really is, but hopefully Dropbox is just as good. Seems to be working well for me. I'll check out Synctoy also. Thanks so much for your advice. Appreciate being able to check I'm on the right track.
  3. Hi Brian, I have just completed Damien's Bridge class and it discussed backups. I read in there that Damien uses Microsoft SyncToy program to help with backing up. I also recall recently reading in the forum or FB group not to copy and paste files to external hard drives to back up files. This is what I have always done as I didn't realise there are better options. I have two external hard drives which have all my files and photographs backed up on, one I keep at a family members house and only back up every six months or so and the other one I back up maybe once a month. My photography at the moment is only family photos but I am studying and like to backup my uni assessments regularly (especially as I have had a couple of computer problems this year), and usually back them up in Dropbox every day that I work on them. So my question is, is there a low cost program you can recommend that I should be using to help backup to my external hard drives? Or any other suggestions for backing up my files? Your help is appreciated.
  4. Thanks so much! Now to get Bridge, I'm still using that other free program you recommend for Elements. I saw your Bridge class that Bridge is free and works with both Photoshop and Elements. Not sure why I didn't try Bridge earlier. Been out of the loop since leaving your Facebook group! Might have to do the Bridge class and might as well do the Levels for Photoshop as that's probably what I'll keep using at work later. Thanks for your help.
  5. Do you mean so I'll be able to use Photoshop properly? It's not possible to edit the raw files through Elements when I have both installed? I'll be cancelling my subscription in a year when I finish my studies, but I just wish I could do it all in Elements.
  6. Hi Damien, I have been editing with Elements for many years and now I have a Photoshop subscription because I need it for my interior design studies. I have just signed up and started the refresh Raw class so I can learn to use ACR in Photoshop. However, I don't see a selection brush tool in Photoshop and I really just want to edit in Elements. The problem is when I try open a Raw file in Elements it says cannot open because it is the wrong type of file. Is there a way to make it so I can just edit my raw images through Elements... or do I keep persisting with my new Photoshop... I miss the selection brush tool... is there something else equally as good in Photoshop that I don't see? I also can't find a project bin in Photoshop and want that too. I was editing the raw file in Photoshop then saving the file and continue editing in Elements, that just seems silly.
