  1. I've ordered from nphoto this time, but the other one was dsclour labs, and before we've had it with Loxley colour, but they're all well used round here by photographers so just makes me a little worried still.
  2. okay thank you! im just a little worried as we've had the same problem with another lab, banding not showing up on the digital, but then showing up in print until I've added noise. I've ordered from a completely different lab than these two labs that i've occasionally had the banding with, so really hoping they don't come back with banding, is it unlikely for them to come back with banding if you can't see it in the digital then?
  3. Okay, I've got more test prints coming from a different lab but im worried im going to run into the same problem. I can only see like the purple/ green patching in that one on the digital below the balloons in the shadow and the upper right, but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me because I know its printed there. In print its definitely worse in those exact areas but I hope it is just the print company like you say. I've heard of other photographers having the same issue with it not being so visible on the digital, but showing up In the prints more? What about the other one though, even though I got the dimensions incorrect for print I can still see it on the digital? Could you? The screen is calibrated, we followed your steps online I just can't remember which spyder it is we've got its also a Mac desktop
  4. As silly as this sounds, I wasn't sure sure on 9x6 inches in mm🥲 but I think it rounded it up/down when I googled. I wasn't sure if it needed to be in mm like the screenshot you sent me rather than inches and just wanted to do it exactly like you sent, just incase, because of all the other 'settings' on the crop bit. The only reason I also did that one in 9x6 was because the first lot of prints those ones were in 9x6, so just wanted to do them the same to see if I could see where i'm going round.
  5. just sent it, I think less noticeable in the digital, but it does still show up in print, just not as much as the other one
  6. gosh shows how much I suck. Would it help to send the a4 ones to you? I can still see the banding in them on the digitals, they don't show it as much and also neither in print compared to the one I just showed you, but its definitely still there, or at least I think so
  7. oh noo, I googled the conversion of the dimensions too, but the a4 one I got right but that still showed the banding anyway?
  8. Okay, just uploading it, hoping I did it right. I did loads of different noise amounts with the layer and applied it across the whole photo like you mentioned. The one im sending is the layer I did at 10% and came out the worst.
  9. I've just placed an order with another lab. But on looking at the images on the computer again I can definitely see, what I presume to be, the banding. I can see it clearer now they've been resized for print properly compared to my last jpegs, so that means it's in the image is that correct? is there anything that can be done? I feel totally hopeless of finding a resolution to it. This one was printed 9x6, and I did what you said above to do (hopefully correct). I don't know if you can see it? or if because of the prints I know where to look. Its like a rainbow top right corner and under the balloons, its even more obvious in print .
  10. A lot of photographers round here use DSCL colour labs so im just worried its in the actual photo
  11. Okay will try and find another one, if that doesn't work though is there any hope of removing it if it's actually in the photos themselves?
  12. Im so upset, all the prints have still come back with banding. I really don't know what to do. I even tried different % of the noise layer, was definitely worse when less was applied, but you can still see it even on the ones with excessive yucky noise being applied to it. Is there anything else I can try?
  13. Okay, and just to double check as I’ve done last time with the filter- noise-Gaussian noise and no sharpening?
  14. Okay thank you, and with the noise how much would you recommend after flattening then resizing? Or do I do different amounts and trial different amounts? Hoping to get it sent off this morning
  15. And how much noise would you add? Should I try different amounts? I know you said I added way too much. I think I went to filter-noise and added 3-4 Gaussian monochromatic noise and masked onto the backdrop areas, is this wrong
  16. Okay thank you. I just wanted to check the jpeg options I’m choosing, maximum quality of 12, and format options It automatically selects ‘baseline (standard)’ is this the best one to save it as?
  17. So I just wanted to check I’m doing it right, so I’m just cropping the original psd and save as a jpeg/seperate file?
  18. We’ve shot against the white backdrop before, sometimes we’ve had this issue and I’ve applied a bit of noise to the backdrop and it’s sorted it but those have been times when we’ve shot at 5.6 making everything a bit more detailed in the backdrop. This time that small bit of noise isn’t fixing it and this was why I was reaching out because I hate the noise I’ve already had to add, and didn’t want to just try adding more noise, but I am really worried resizing it is not going to fix the problem.
  19. In all honesty I don’t know how to do it, because I don’t do it. Yes we have but we’ve never shot at such a low depth of field (making the backdrop more ‘smooth’- I guess ) and the banding is also in the shadowing so to speak where the balloons are and at the edges of the upper of the balloons
  20. Okay, would resizing it accurately stop the banding from showing? That's the only reason I've added noise because the banding shows up even worse without it. Again could this be solved by resizing/exporting correctly? because I can see the banding on the print, in the exact places I can see it in the raw image if I apply that curves layer temporarily. The noise doesn't show up at all on the prints I've done. Please can you tell me if I start the course whether it would give me the knowledge for exporting/resizing straight away so I can at least send off for more prints this weekend to see if the banding goes away even if I apply no sharpening? I know I will need to do more prints to test the sharpening bit, but im just desperate to know if there is a resolution for this banding, and I know the other classes there was a break that I couldn't access the next bit until I'd 'passed'.
  21. I've fixed the banding before for the prints I do this way. Do you really think this would actually stop it appearing in print, im worried its banding that is embedded in the photo and im still going to have the same problem? how long is the course as I know the others were long and these have to be done this weekend. This is why I was reaching out for a quote to fix this for me this time. Im really stressed out so please don't get funny with me, I know I suck.
  22. The jpegs I sent you were the exact files I sent to get printed. So I didn’t size them for print (as we sell the digitals) so these are what the client receives. So that was the 1.jpg
  23. A4, and the others a4, 8x10 and 9x6 I think it was I’ve tried doing the gradient thing you mention on your website and then adding a bit of grain but it makes the background look horrible as I can’t do it very well, then (with a curves layer) I can see the banding appearing where I’m trying to softly brush on the gradient around the balloons
  24. I use dscolour labs (uk) but I’ve also used loxley colour in the uk in the past and same problem. I haven’t noticed the banding in a long time, got into a habit of checking with a curves layer every time but havtn had to do it in ages
