  1. Ha! Learn something new every day! Thanks for that Damien ☺️ You have probably guessed it by now, but English is not my first (actually it's my 4th but the one I speak the most these days) language, so I always seek to improve my grammar and vocabulary. Although my grammar sucks a bit, as at times I no longer know which way is right and which one is wrong, as it's all muddled up in my head 🤪
  2. Good question! I actually have no idea why!! Maybe because I am not that proficient in Photoshop and I'd really like to be. To be as comfortable in Photoshop as I am in Excel. Thank you! I've seen you do this but have never attempted it myself just yet, so I guess that's my cue.
  3. How does he mask the boy so impeccably?! (I know the boy is missing the right eyebrow, but I think that's done on purpose). Does he fill the 'background' with the black paint? On any particular light? And then the haze is removed completely ( I am just coming to that part in AL, so maybe I'll find my answer there). And the new image is just soo.. clear..how? (maybe that's a non question again).
  4. Hi Damien, I’m curios on how he does this? That’s twice I’ve seen this done it two days and my curiosity has been peaked. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/9FuUa9M1ywkJCN3w/?mibextid=WC7FNe Thank you
  5. Thank you Damien, was worth asking anyway ☺️
  6. This is my (very sloppy) attempt, the left over bits cannot be done, as PS starts removing the colour too. It's ok, on a grand scheme, no-one is going to notice the imperfections but I'd like to do better. The inner critic is not happy with sloppiness lol.
  7. Hi Damien, I'm designing a website for a friend and the person who designed this logo only gave her this image only. But .. i need it with a transparent background. My friend got back in touch with the designer but she can't find it, as it's been a few months since she did it, so she just run it through Canva 'transparent background' and sent it back (still with a white background). So I was wondering, is there a quick way to remove background? The option on it's own has never worked well for me in the photoshop, so wonder if you have any tricks up your sleeve? Obviously the designer is cool with it. Many thanks
  8. And just like that magic happens!! Thank you so much Damien! ☺️
  9. Well that makes sense lol! I might need help with decoding some of them in the future though, as some of them looked a tad complicated. Not just now, don't have the brain capacity for that at the moment, concentrating on levels for now. I guess I was hoping we could do this kind of magic with levels.
  10. Thought I better clarify this lol edit-wise I mean style wise, I am seems to be drawn to saturated warm images
  11. Hi Damien, I've used actions on the final edit but would like to know how to get there without them. Nothing crazy at the moment, I think it's about 3/5 of where I'd like my images to be edit-wise. Tia
  12. To be fair my patience is already running very short with them, so it won't be long! But I find it beneficial to see different ideas on composites and how people execute them. I am biding my time until I can get into levels advanced lol. And even crappy videos beat doing house work 😆 Thank you for the link!
  13. Hi @Damien Symonds! well first of all.. what have you done to me? 😂 I cannot watch people do the (artistic) edits the 'slow' way now! It's like watching the paint dry! I have a couple of questions.. I am watching a tutorials on composites and noticed myself thinking 'should've used QBQ + levels here' etc etc.. watching it at 1.25 speed to make it more palatable. So the first question is - do you have any tips on how to watch a tutorial and only pick up the 'good' stuff, without any bad habits? Just filtering through based on what I learned in here? The second question is about dodge and burn. So many people use it in their videos but I don't think I've ever seen you use/mention it, so guessing you are not particularly fond of it? Do you ever use it? Is there an article/tutorial on it? Just making sure I skip the parts that I don't want 'infiltrating' my brain. Only the good stuff goes in there now lol.
  14. Sorry Damien, I never got a notification on your reply to this. That's cool I'll have a look. Just wondered if you had found some nice little shortcuts that work good with your editing flow.
  15. zoomed in with fresh eyes and blended some more, so just that little corner now
  16. Hi Damien, Can you help me and point me in the right direction please. I need to edit the first image and I wasn't happy with the lack of space below the feet, so found another image to match and extend, although the angle changed a little bit. For a start I've extended canvas in all directions to give me space to play with (possibly the wrong way). And I fixed the misalignment on the left and now need to fix the bit on the left. I can do it the painful way of trying to watch multiple YouTube videos and still be none the wiser or I can do it the right way. What would my next step be? I already checked other photos and there is no other one to get a sample from. Generative fill? Need to deliver this session this coming week, as it's been 6 weeks now. Thanks
  17. Thank you and thanks again for your help with this move.
  18. And Done!! ✅ Feeling free! Now Damien, I am trying to 'merge' my files with RAWs with files with tiffs and dngs. Jeez, I have files here, there and everyf***ingwhere (thanks LR!!). I have hummed and huffed, 'just let go of the tiffs and dngs Roxy, start from scratch...' but some of them were edited to how I liked it, so I decided to keep both for now. Once I've done the merging and have all my files in one location (in relevant folders of course), which should I delete (if unedited) - dngs? Or does it not matter? I'm only going to edit those files for practice or for use on my website. There are also some images of my kids that will be (finally) very lightly edited, turned to jpgs for keeps. From now ion, Bridge should keep me on a straight and narrow.
  19. Oh wow! Well that was easier than I thought lol And pinks and purples? Did you just do a colour match with an eye dropper tool?
  20. Yes I do, all of them are on the external drive. not all of them but you know what I mean. All relating to LR.
  21. Hi Damien, I know I am jumping between a few things at the same time (pretty normal for me), but I need to get this out of my head, as it's been 'annoying' me for a few days now. With me moving over away from LR, I'd like to know how I can achieve this or very similar look in ACR/PS? I can't find the original (I must've saved over it), but you can see the next one in sequence as to where I started from and where I got to. I might have used a preset (unless I went back into LR I won't be able to check, but I'm 95% sure that I have) to enhance the 'moodiness' and then played with pinks and purples. Thank you! P.S. there is no rush to figure this one out to perfection, I just needed it to get it out of my head and to cover all basis before I completely uninstall LR.
