  1. I clicked through previous threads with laptop recommendations and also noticed a Dell Inspiron listed. I started looking at them and noticed that there is an 2 in 1, 15 in Inspiron with the IPS screen. Would that be better? or would it still be hard to calibrate? Wasn't sure if the struggle to calibrate was because of the screen moving so much or the non IPS screen in the other 2-in-1's that I was thinking about in the beginning.
  2. I'm so glad I asked! I never thought about them not being easy to calibrate. Thank you for the info!! I will look into the Asus line you mentioned.
  3. I currently have a Dell desktop with a 27 inch screen that I absolutley love and will continue to use when I am working at home. I am on the search of a laptop that I can take with me to coffee shops to: 1. edit 2. hook up to my tv to show clients their photos (I currently borrow my husbands ipad) while at their homes or coffee shops during IPS sessions 3. create invoices for them to pay immediately 4. sign contracts (I currently use paper copies, I would like to do this digitally) 5. update quickbooks 6. correspond with clients Anything else that I can do with a 2-in-1 that would be beneficial that I am not thinking about?! Most of the things listed above can be done with a regular laptop and having a bigger screen would be nice. Is it smart to invest in a 2-in-1 from Dell? I would like to hook it up to a docking station at home so I all of my information will transfer from one screen to the other whether I am home or away. I foresee problems with editing on a 13 inch screen so would only use it in a pinch, unless I can bring photoshop up and edit with my hand right on the screen? Can I do that? Or should I just get a regular 15 inch laptop to use? Thank you for your input!!
  4. Thanks so much Brian! The local guy that I sent it to also recommended a company called Drive Savers. Have you heard of them?
  5. I have had my personal pictures and videos on one single external hard drive for a couple years now. My to-do list says to back them up. I kept finding "more important" things to do and it finally happened. I can't even open the hard drive anymore. I sent it to our local computer expert and he had no luck extracting any files. I don't want to give up. It has everything from when I was in high school to my wedding and my kids right after they were born. Any suggestions as to what I could do or where I could send it?
  6. YES!!!!! It works now!! For sure this time! haha! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!
  7. I thought I had the hang of this last night - until I started working on it again today and I realized, I was actually dragging over the copy of the background layer. I started over, made a duplicate background layer, used the marquee tool to select her left eye, pressed ctl j for new layer, clicked on selection tool, clicked on the area that I just selected with marquee tool ONCE to drag over (and then I drug a levels layer instead), so I went back a step and clicked on the area I selected TWICE. Then I was able to move it (but it was then that I realized the layer I created for this new eye was gone and I was actually dragging the background layer. ... I wasn't sure if that was going to work, so I just went with it for a while, but quickly realized it wouldn't let me continue to make changes. Once I clicked the check mark saying, yes, i was ok with the move - it wouldn't let me rotate it anymore. So, I assume - it's essential to be using that new layer I created in the first place?
  8. Ahh!! THANK YOU!!!! Finally got it!!! Should have asked before I was ready to throw my computer out the window!
  9. oh... I used it to get rid of the glare that was on her right eye. Here is a shot of it without the background layer on. Any other ideas as to how I can get the glare off her eyes? I tried using clone tool on her left eye, but I really stink at it.
  10. Here- I am trying to put her right eye ontop of her left to cover up the glare from the glasses.
  11. I am beating my head against the wall. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to copy a right eye to paste it over a left eye. I am selecting the right eye with the marquee tool. Pressing ctl J to create a new layer. Selecting the move tool. Trying to move the selected area over, but nothing happens because doing that never actually selected any part of the layer to move. I am sure I am making a stupid mistake because I have done this before! and it worked great! Now - I have no idea what is going on. I'd love your help! Thank you!
  12. Anything I can do to make his face look any better?
  13. Deleting the pixels while cropping is what I should be doing right?
  14. I am using WxHxResolution to crop with 5x7 and 300 px/in and deleting cropped pixels. Is that right? ... A crop like this?
  15. A client would like either one of these photos used as a 5x7 at her son's wedding for memorials. She doesn't have any other pictures to use and wants the female cropped out. I tried cropping and it looks horrid. Anything I can do to make it look better?
