  1. I guess I lucked out this time, thank goodness! I'm still amazed at how you're able to learn how to do so many different things AND retain it. Damn, dude. You rock.
  2. Oh, sorry. I didn't go back and reread this whole thread, and I have the memory of a goldfish. I just got all excited that it worked on this one. LOL Yes, it was blue and orange on a gray shirt.
  3. So, I had this happen AGAIN. With the SAME COUPLE for their newborn portraits. However, a friend reminded me to search old forum posts on FB, and I found the fix that I remembered from way back when....it involved a sold color layer on color mode. Is there a reason you no longer suggest this method? I haven't gone back to try it on this maternity photo, because that's long ago delivered, but it appeared to work on my most recent problem, so I was wondering if there is a reason I shouldn't be using it anymore? Thanks! I thought I better check before I print big.
  4. I didn't want to post it publicly, so I had sent it via PM to a friend. It's not for my use, but to give to the client. It's really not a big deal. I don't want to waste any more of your time. I was able to get it looking good enough for the 8x10 print, so I'm not terribly worried about the Facebook file any more. If the print arrives and looks crappy, though, you'll definitely be hearing back from me before I reprint it. LOL
  5. I did, and the moire came back.
  6. Oh, sorry. I thought you meant to run it the way I usually do. I'll try again. I'm sorry. I'm clearly terrible at following directions tonight. I don't mean to waste your time, so thank you for your patience. I hope this is right....
  7. I have. I'm planning on revisiting this and either using that or creating a new one. I'm getting a new computer on Monday, though, so I'll wait until then, as I already have everything from this one backed up and ready to move over.
  8. I do add a watermark. I think you had helped me write my action YEARS ago. Like, many, many years ago. I suppose it's time for revision. The only reason I keep the 11:15 shape for Facebook is because they are already cropped like that when I'm creating digital files for customers (and that's what I use when I show them their photos, so they are already cropped like that anyway). It saves me time if they choose to purchase any digital files, because it's already done. I'll revisit my process and write an updated action to suit the new norms. I'm so out of touch. LOL Thanks again for your help! I wish I could spend more time in this forum. I feel so out of touch now that you're not on Facebook anymore.
  9. It ends up being 900x660 pixels. Maybe I misspoke?
  10. Oh no. Just for Facebook posting.....
  11. Web size I usually crop to 15x11 at 72ppi. For the 8x10, 300ppi. If it's something I have to live with doing the blur, I'm sure I can. I'm guessing I can get it to the point where the clients won't notice much, and I'm not the one who has to look at it every day. *sigh*
  12. I have to prepare for web and for an 8x10 print. I seem to remember there being a method that involved painting a color layer on set to some other setting or something. Is that only for colored objects? Or am I thinking of something completely different? Thanks for your help!
  13. OK, once I turned my brain back on, I went and tried doing the duplicate of the background layer as a smart object and applying a blur. I didn't like how the blur looked at full opacity, because this is a close up, and I lost all texture on her shirt that way. I tried masking it on gently at a lower opacity, but I can still see the moire. The only way to complete get rid of it seems to be with a full strength blur, and I feel like that's ruining it.
  14. I'm so sorry. I misread part of that article the first time. I will go back to it again. My apologies!
  15. I haven't tried anything yet, other than seeing that the moire is there when I've cropped to the output size. When I zoom into my original edited file at 100%, there is no problem. It's when I crop that I'm seeing it at 100%. I remember in the past you having me do something with a color layer or something like that, but it's been so long since I've had a problem like this that I couldn't remember what to try.
  16. Hi Damien, I have one shot from this maternity session with really bad moire. It's showing up at 100% when I have cropped the photos for output. Can you please help? Thank you! I'm attaching the full size file and the 700x700px crop. It's been a long time since I've done this, so I hope I did it right! sarah Of course it's not showing up posted in here. Why would that be?????
  17. OK, thank you. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong with calibration yet again. I guess I'll take "good enough".
  18. I should add some more information, sorry. I am following your instructions for the X Rite i1 Display Pro on a NEC MultiSync EA232WMi monitor. I am comparing prints from two different labs and having the same issue (Pro DPI and Bay Photo). My color prints from Bay are a perfect match. The black and white is very warm compared to my monitor. My prints on a gray background from ProDPI, the skin looks pretty close, but the gray is warmer in print. The color prints from ProDPI are slightly more saturated looking than my monitor, however, I have some older prints that match perfectly, so I suspect something has changed slightly on their end, though they deny it.
  19. Hi Damien, Just finished a long-overdue calibration of my monitor. There was very little change, other than it is dimmer now (found out my husband had changed the brightness setting, and he has since been scolded). Anyway, some of my prints are a gorgeous match, particularly the color photos. Where I'm finding that things are not matching are in my black and whites and in photos with a dark gray background. For these, the prints are consistently warmer than the monitor. How is this happening? What can I do about it? Thanks!
