  1. yes I've been putting that off too. Ill go through your threads and read up more for the best one.
  2. OK so cant download Bridge to my old macbook Pro which doesn't surprise me. Its running out of room and probably energy. I have been wanting to move to the big mac for a while now so this is my reason. Which brings me to an upgrade. I don't want a subscription so was going to upgrade from elements 11 to elements 2018, connect my Wacom tablet which has been sitting in a box for over a year now, and get serious. Do you think its worth the upgrade to elements 18?
  3. ok you've sold me on Bridge- sounds like the answer! I will look on hard drive. Just worried I was doing something really wrong in the processing. Im looking to turn a couple of photos into 'art' for my walls so I will be taking the print sharpening class too!!
  4. ok yes I will definitely take the bridge class. I had not looked at it before though because I use elements and didn't think Bridge was for Elements? The only external hard drive is the back up i do every now and then. I haven't (knowingly) moved the files somewhere else but I guess anything is possible! It seems to be mainly on the photos that I have edited with layers etc, not just the basic editing when converting raw. Could it have something to do with the layers processing or the way i save the edited photos? This is why I am taking the layers and mask class!
  5. HI Damien I was going back through some old edited photos and many if the photos are coming up with a question mark, then it goes through a 'looking for missing files' process. Can you tell me where I have gone wrong in my editing/ saving steps in the past? Thank you Kathie
  6. oh, and I am happy to just learn more about PS / bridge; don't think I need to add Lightroom to my confusion! (I'm well aware of how Damien feels about lightroom ha ha!!)
  7. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I had no idea where to start, now I do. Its like a freaking mine field out there!!
  8. It is mid 2011. 27 inch, with OS X El Capitan. Has 498GB free space....the only reason i use the laptop is that it has Elements on it and its portable. I don't do anything hugely creative at this stage (due to the small screen as well as not knowing how yet) but want to learn more. I also have been given an intuos pen so I am thinking the iMac would be better for all of it. Just won't be able to edit and watch TV at the same time! I was reading other people use the laptop but get a separate screen instead. Is that a compromise, or is it more than just the screen size and quality? Creative Cloud seems to be $25 a month in Australia, unless I am looking at the wrong thing. (more expensive than i thought but ?worth it?)
  9. Hi Brian, I have been doing an online course over the past few years with an occasional spattering of photography with Elements (and lots of raw photos), on my MacBook Pro. I have now finished my course and wish to do Damien's courses and ramp up my photography hobby. I need to clean up my pro- get rid of assignments etc- and store my photos properly. (its a disorganised mess). My questions are: Having limited tech knowledge, how do I clean up the macbook? Do I take it to the Apple shop and get them to help and upgrade to El Capitano while we are at it? Or am I better off doing my photoshop stuff on the iMac that my family uses, and get CC or Photoshop (full version). I am a bit overwhelmed with the constantly upgrading technology!!! thanks
