  1. Bugger that... Right good point and thank you actually didnt connect the incompatibility aspect. Ok no editing just images and more cards. Love it thanks Damien
  2. So reading between the lines.. Get another few storage cards, and wait until i get back. I assume dng isn't what it makes out to be then. But at least i keep my raw file intact if it creates a dng file. Although how can software companies call it raw editor of you can't keep the same format. Really now nothing of dng, other than used in loading colour calibrations.. Thoughts ...
  3. I shoot raw on a Sony A7rii, so acr is great. BUT, heading to a friends they don't use acr which means i need to convert to DNG for DXO 10 i think. It seems to embed lots of settings, is dng any good or not.... Sounds like raw and side car but dng had it all built in. Implications when i very back to photoshop... Suggested workflow? Thanks
  4. Keep me posted on the final solution...may follow you. If you need a backup got a nice d300.here in box
  5. Thought you wanted a D3/D4 ? Should cheaper now the new D5 is out ...besides that is a huge chunk of camera. ..
  6. True true. ..Nikon for me, just the long haul in getting lenses. Trade up deals neded.
  7. Have an existing 21 IMac 4k - but want the second screen real estate. I find I have other things going on whilst editing photos. Anyway What should I look for in a monitor, not wanting anything flash - possible trip to the local IT Supplier. I assume it needs specific connections ?
  8. Arrh cant do it....The 810 is great but slow and the raw file sizes are getting out there, the 500 is not full frame - the 750 is a snappy cam.. Do I wait a bit longer or invest in Canon since I have to start again anyway.....A future Canon 5D Mark III replacement perhaps ......I think I may go a try them, but the canon option is on the table I guess given the lenses I have. Its just committing to Canon or Nikon.
  9. Thanks Damien...it does impact the basic sliders a bit so it would be subtle. The ones I have used in the past are click and forget.... Looks great but I have no idea what was changed.
  10. Apologies, when you have finished within raw editing with the Basic Sliders, then Detail for noise and Sharpening - you can also also use FX to control to use DE-HAZE - some of the images have a lot of haze being sunny, high up over the Halls Gap in VIctoria - attached JPG as shot - the RAW file is huge 42mb but gives you an idea. I have not edited as yet so it really is as shot. But wanted to know how best to address haze within images. There are plenty of tools, recent additions to lightroom - being new to photoshop I found the option - but....De-Haze seems to impact other other areas also....which I haven't quite figured out what yet, compared to some other click and forget de-haze tools.
  11. Damien I took a few picks over the weekend, lots of haze around. Did the normal slider and sharpness lelvels first. Tried the degree, not sure what it gives or takes away in photoshop... Too much leaves black blown out for example.. Is there a best time to use our maybe a different option?
  12. Cheers Brian - narrows down a bit, annoying on the camera and lenses, but thats the area we play in.. Everything aside 810 or 500 overall ? Shame these will sit in a box now gathering dust, where once a professional level camera....pfft
  13. Had a another check of the lenses - 50m 1.8G, 85mm 1.8G, 20mm 2.8D, 24-120mm 3.5 -5.6 D, 70-300mm 1.4-5.6 ED If anything the G lenses could go to the next camera..., had a quick 810 comparison to the sony, interesting read - its all mind tricks made me think I was going backwards....arrhh must not google any more
  14. Only issues which you raised, was moving from a quick Fighter Jet...D300 to a bomber 810 potentially or something else. I find this with the Sony a7rii, mind you have not taken any fast action sports etc so could be a safe bet. Sounds like my D300 lens collection needs to be sold complete then....having had the FF sony I like it a lot....right time to review again.
  15. Hmm sounds like everything I am thinking about in my head - you can easily get lost in the bells and whistles.....I agree about the Nikon feel, really like the yappy 750 analogy lol. Off my menu already....810 could be good, as you say slower....i guess thats the Nikon Marketing for you. Well i already invested in disk and storage so ok there....
