  1. Yes. Though I may need them to do a side for me. It's a 16x16. They want a 2 inch border on all sides. They offer a template that's 20x20. Thanks!
  2. ok I think I figured out how to do it myself. Simply Color says to leave a 2 inch border on each side. my question still is: do I crop the picture before putting in the 20x20 template or drag it in and enlarge it? (I'm ordering as 16x16) I sharpen based on the 16x16 dimension correct? can I post on the forum to connect with other people who ordered thru simply color? thanks much!
  3. no, I don't. they have a video on how to do it but I don't know if their retouchers use that technique. This client ordered 6 canvases and I'm going to have palpitations until they arrive!
  4. Hi Damien, This image will be a 16x16 wrapped canvas. It's currently a 2:3 ratio. I order through simply color and they will wrap the border and stretch the bottom so his shoes don't wrap. Question: do I crop this to 16x16 or 20x20 before placing? or drag out the handles like in your canvas post? http://www.damiensymonds.net/tut_canvas.html I sharpen based on the 16x16 dimension correct? (I'm in print sharpening class) Thanks! p.s. I looked through every topic on canvas and couldn't find my answer.
  5. can you please take a look at this? did I remove the noise enough? here's a before and after. the 'after' is posted first. luminance 50 luminance detail 90 luminance contrast 90 color 8 sharpening 25 thank you!!!
  6. in this picture of the girls face, the noise is concentrated in the folds of her cheek and under her neck. should I be basing the noise reduction off the folds in her cheek? should I remove noise further? does it matter how big client will print when I'm doing noise reduction? (shot at iso 320 on 60D. Client will probably order as 11x14 or 16x24.) p.s I'm in the RAW class thank you!!! luminance 50 luminance detail 75 luminance contrast 100 color 8 color detail 50 sharpening 25
  7. Woah thanks for the in depth response!! I guess the ppl at retouchup will think I'm nuts for sending a soft unsharpened image!
  8. I need to do head swaps on a family portrait. The image is very noisy. What's the right workflow? 1. remove noise in 3 images needed for swaps 2. Swap now or bare bones sharpening now? 3. Sharpen for 20x30 canvas Also I send my swaps retouchup.c om if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help!
  9. Hi Samantha, you're right, focus may be off a smidge. But I was shooting at 5.0 so that should have compensated, no? I have a 60D so I can't calibrate my lens to camera if there's an issue. Here's another crop. So assuming the focus is off, would Damien's sharpening work better than what I posted as the first image? Can I pay someone on the team to sharpen the original file? thanks for your help!
  10. Thank you Damien. This was shot 1/200 with 2 speedlights. Used a tripod but no cable release for the shutter. So movement shouldn't be an issue. Because this is a full body shot, is this acceptable sharpness or is something off? THANK YOU!
  11. p.s. I just read all Damien's blog posts about sharpening. it's over my head. Damien, can I submit the RAW to be sharpened professionally by someone on your team? do you provide such a service? thanks.
  12. Hello all, I printed this as a 16x24 from H&H and I feel that it's not sharp. I want to see every eyelash and I can't. I don't know if it's my lens or it's not sharpened properly or if my expectations are too high. I used Kubota Magic Sharp. (I do plan to take Damien's sharpening class but I'm pretty PS illiterate re layers and stuff and need to start with the RAW class), THANK YOU for your time =)
