  1. Brian, I am researching a new laptop, read all the comments and it appears in July that you recommended: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/business-solutions/hp-zbook-studio-g3-mobile-workstation-(energy-star)-t6e16ut-aba However it APPEARS?? to have a Touchscreen and I read your comments that they are almost impossible to calibrate. Does it have a Touchscreen and do you still recommend this laptop?
  2. Unfortunately...I don't have that option. I take photos of the homes we are listing for sale and I must have them edited and posted on the Multiple Listing Service within 5 days. I shifted from jpeg to RAW several days ago... I am reviewing your excellent RAW class notes and videos each day but no doubt it will take me time to fully grasp all the many new and complex concepts. I am progressing reasonably well editing many of the photos but this one really threw me.
  3. I am new to shooting RAW and new to the Raw Class. This photo is beyond where my learning curve is. I did try to adjust the white balance...no idea where to go from here. All suggestions greatly appreciated!
  4. Just started this training...I do real estate photography and just changed to shooting RAW. My first photoshoot in RAW and the kitchen has this ghastly blue tone to it....not sure if it is the lighting or reflection of the large Blue Pearl Granite counter that is causing it. I greatly appreciate input.
  5. Brian...I ALWAYS shoot with a Manfrotto tripod and you are absolutely right...it is the only way to go when doing real estate photography. I appreciate all the support at this site as I move forward in my huge learning curve.
  6. To ALL who responded...THANK YOU!! I am embarrassed to say that when I changed my camera to RAW I also changed settings without being fully aware of it. But...after MUCH work with Photoshop Elements I was able to get several of my photos to an acceptable state so I could post them on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for my Seller. If I didn't have the RAW file I would not have been able to do this and would have to reshoot all photos. Are the photos great? No...but OK. So I am now hooked on shooting RAW...knowing of course that I still have so much to learn and much potential for improving my skills as a photographer. Regards, Mariann
  7. Damien, I exclusively do real estate photography and have made the shift to RAW today. Maybe I was so intent on shooting RAW today that I messed up something on my Sony NEX6 because almost all photos are blurry. I am trying to figure out what I did wrong but...I am a little overwhelmed and need to get back on track...with your help. I have another photoshoot tomorrow for another listing. To make it easy today the mode I used was Superior Auto-recognizes and evaluates shooting conditions automatically, performs Auto HDR and chooses the best image. I have used this mode many times in the past with no problems. Take a look at one of the many blurry photos ...shot in RAW and after many adjustments to make it reasonable...saved as jpeg. Thanks in advance.
  8. I am inside shooting a room with great outside views and want to capture BOTH the interior and exterior. Bright Florida sunlight makes it hard to balance the lighting in both. Suggestions??
  9. I am currently using a Sony NEX-6 and primarily use the Sony 10-18MM F/4 OMM OSS wide angle Lens. I exclusively do Real Estate photography and am currently taking the Raw Class. I just got a second monitor and the Spyder 5 Elite so I am in the middle of a large learning curve and am not ready to buy a different camera. I use my Manfrotto tripod for photoshoots. Question: I need to create a clear, crisp view through windows and read that using extra lights inside while changing the settings for the outside view will help. Your thoughts and suggestions to improve the view through the windows on a sunny day (most days here in Florida).
  10. Damien...Received your email. I DEFINITELY want to be in the Deluxe Class. I am now researching a monitor calibrator. Which one do you recommend? Question: I currently am using a Dell /Windows 7 laptop. Is the screen/monitor on this laptop going to be worth using with the monitor calibrator or...should I buy a monitor that can connect to my existing laptop (I think that is possible??) and use it exclusively for editing my photos. I really am looking for your direction here to turn the corner and move into creating more professional quality real estate photographs. Thanks!
  11. OK..will sign up for Raw shortly. Any thoughts about a section of your impressive new site devoted to questions related to real estate photography editing questions and improving and refining these skills? I would be very interested.
  12. As mentioned...I am new to real estate photography and just finished your Layers and Masks. I was about to sign up for the Raw Class...is shooting in raw an absolute to getting the window scene clarity on the bright Florida days I am shooting in on a regular basis? If so...I will sign up immediately so I can quickly improve my skill set. My sellers want to see their window views clearly highlighted in their real estate photos and my competition is able to accomplish this.
  13. Damien, Are you saying that improving the clarity of the view through the windows is only possible if you shoot in raw?
  14. I am starting in real estate photography and want to make my window views crisp and clear instead of washed out. Please direct me to info that will make this a relatively quick and easy task. I am uploading 2 photos taken of a room for discussion.
