  1. I hear you, but I've tried the methods in your class, re-read the chapters suggested, tried again and I fully realise this is a case of me just not being able to see it how it should be. So without any more guidance, which I appreciate you can't give here to people who haven't paid for it... and with your admission that you don't know how to get the effect I'm after anyway.... then right now I reckon I'm best shelving this until I can go over it with somebody who might be able to help me.
  2. Right, cheers for your help. Enjoy that beer I sent cash over for today.
  3. Oops so just to clarify, the white balance is the only issue here? I've followed your flow chart through whilst working on this but I'm very much still training my eyes so thanks for your patience with me. I've used my pure white wall (not brightly lit) to select for white balance. The results weren't accurate when using the snowmen on the baby's romper or santa's white fur. Should I be posting in the raw section if this is a million miles away from correct?
  4. Could this be moved to the section where other people can chip in then perhaps?
  5. I have indeed. I'm getting to know the various controls but I'm struggling to replicate this effect.
  6. Hi Damien Just had Santa here this afternoon to take some test images. Hoping you can help me achieve a similar look to those images we discussed with the tone mapping? I already have the NIK collection installed. Link is here: http://clarksvillesanta.daphnesportraitdesign.com/ An image of mine is attached. Many thanks in advance!
  7. OK excellent, thanks Kim! I'll shoot this way on Thursday and report back.
  8. Yes that's right, Damien's given a little advice to another person who asked about these, and I've downloaded and started to explore the NIK Collection which he recommended for the processing. My question was, what should I consider in terms of prep and lighting. I have Santa coming for a test shoot on Thursday so want to get this exactly right! Those images will be my promotional images for these sessions. Thank you in advance for any pointers Kim!
  9. Thanks for the response Kim, myself and Damien have both given the link above. Is it not showing? I can't unfortunately pop an image in my reply as it's coming from a flash site. http://clarksvillesanta.daphnesportraitdesign.com/
  10. Hi Brian, thanks for getting back to me! Damien's posted the link above. I have two Bowens Gemini 400x a Canon 5d iii and generally shoot with my 24 - 70 f 2.8 for studio portraits like this. My studio is 20 x 13 foot with a ceiling height of 9.5 ft in the middle and the eaves either end (shooting space is at one end) are 7ft. Let me know if I've missed anything!
  11. Yes that's right! It's archived now as her order just came back from the lab but I'll dig it out to show you
  12. So sorry to bring up again what was a slightly painful exchange to read already. I am doing Santa minis this year Damien and am keen to recreate a similar look as is discussed here. I have Santa coming for a text shoot next week so I'll have some images to play with then and have already downloaded and explored the NIK collection - which looks awesome! My question, and feel free to tell me to bog off as it's not strictly processing related, is this: Is there anything I need to consider when shooting this (does it need to be lit a particular way) to get this kind of look? I looked to comment on that thread but can't. Also wanted to message you to find out how I can buy you a beer for the last thread you helped me with. The client LOVED her image! Cheers!
  13. Just started the masking. It's acceptable to pour myself a gin at 10.44am right?
  14. Thank you so much for your time, will give it a go today and report back!
  15. Yes, great. She'll love that!
  16. Pale pink please Damien. I know my client doesn't like bolder colours. When googling 'pale pink flowers' I'm certain she'd be thrilled with anything like that. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pale+pink+flowers&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjEhee80InPAhXBXBQKHVKjAzoQ_AUICCgB&biw=1920&bih=979
  17. You're absolutely right. Thank you. I've generally processed RAWs in Lightroom. Just switched to Camera Raw at your suggestion. Fixing this now.
  18. I'm not sure how to get rid of the blue channel clipping. I've followed your raw workflow through and the blue channel is still badly clipped at the shadows.
  19. Thanks Damien, can you point me in the right direction for fixing this in RAW?
  20. My client wants these flowers to be pink. She tells me this AFTER I finish the setup - "oh you can just change the colour on your computer, right?" Do-able?
  21. Wahoo! What an awesome class... seriously! First look through but I know it can teach me lots. I used this image on the 'edit along' bit, so first attempt at putting your methods into practice and I have a fairly nice looking clean edit, I think??
