I have a PC desktop running Windows 7 64 bit and Photoshop CS5. It is over 2 years old, and has 12GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 4.5GB free out of 111GB. The last time I shut down was just before posting this thread. I rarely run a cleanup program.

Hi Damien, please help! Bridge has gone bananas on me and I have no idea what has happened to all my folders down the bottom, I cant use it at all and I have no idea what is going on. I have been using this all day and this suddenly happened and restarting my computer did not help. Thank you so much for anything you might know haha.

haha, yeah I believe you. I really regret not renewing it for the $5 a year or something you originally charged. Its not such a biggie when dealing with my studio work, but man, outdoor work has been a struggle.

Gosh I was just pressing Ctrl + Shift + E over and over at the start.... will print this out and put it on my wall, thank you :-)

No but it is ginormous. How do I make a few duplicate layers (e.g. portraiture, then liquify, then patch tool) without making the file so huge?

wtf I just tried on another image and it works fine... what on earth could cause it to not work on a specific image? Have I seriously been sitting around like a duck over ONE IMAGE!!!!???

I only have the 1 internal hard drive. My brother just helped me run a clean up and clear some cashe's and stuff, and now I have 23 gb free. This is more than double what I had yesterday, and yesterday my liquify tool was working. Now its not. Is there anything else that could be causing this?
-
No not a typo. My brother is a computer geek and I've asked him how to free up space before and after looking at what i have on there, he reckons I cant which is so frustrating. Im asking him again now and am currently running a cleanup program. I also had 1gb of useless stuff in a folder on my desktop which I just deleted, but ok thanks at least I have something to try.

I have a PC desktop running Windows 7 and Photoshop CS5. It is over 2 years old, and has 12GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 8GB free out of 111GB. The last time I shut down was just before posting this thread. I have never run a cleanup program.

Im having some real issues with my liquify tool - its really struggling - I try to move something and my curser moves but the actual thing Im trying to move just sits there for ages... and just now it took ages for the liquify screen to even open.... is it a RAM thing or is it something else? I tried updating my video card driver software but its already up to date.

The screenshot might not be very helpful, because when I click on the layer mask, it doesnt get the border around it like usual. Keep in mind this all works fine on other files. When I get aggresive in trying to get the border, I end up double clicking and then it brings up the mask colour box lol. And the answer to your next question is no, Alt doesnt work on other layers.

So I added a blank layer (on the photo in question), added a solid fill colour, added a layer mask, went to brush on with black (all for fun ok! haha) and there is no brush icon, just a circle with a dash through it. I dont get it? It says it needs to be rasterised before editing.

Hey! As I said above, it is not happening on every file, so its just this one. I also found that when I tried editing it, it seems to be locked or something. What have I done?
-
Oooh apparently not! I just tried another photo.

Hi Damien, I want to hold down my alt key and click my background layer to see before and after, but its not working! For EITHER alt keys, and my keyboard batteries are fine (I just tried putting new ones in and that didnt change it). Any ideas?
-
um it magically went away after a couple of layers.... I am so confused. Very sorry for bothering you.

Oh gosh thank you so much!! That worked. I tried changing the views but never clicked that. Yes I know, I am relocating 3 hours east of here in 5 weeks, to live 10 minutes from my brother who is a computer technician so I am going to get him to rebuild it for me. It just has to hang in there a little bit longer. Thanks again!!!!!
