Old habits die hard I guess. I'm truly an amateur photographer and I only shoot pics on vacation etc. Originally, I never shot in RAW, only JPEG's when I first got my digital camera, so I have a lot of JPEG's. I now shoot RAW so I have a collection of both. That was my fear, there's an issue with the type of graphics card this device has.

I will definitely take the RAW class as soon as I get my new monitor calibrated. I have the settings set to Automatically open JPEG'S with Settings. My functionality works as follows with this setting. Double clicking the JPEG thumbnail opens the picture in PS bypassing camera raw. If I click the camera raw icon it opens the JPEG in camera raw and I get a GPU error (see attachment). Using the shortcut ctrl R opens the JPEG as well in camera raw again with the GPU error. When I look under performance in camera raw it has the GPU acceleration has been disabled due to an error and the graphics processor is off and will not allow me to change it. In PS it has the system automatically supports full acceleration and graphics processor is on Auto. I hope these screenshots help.

Yes they are PS 27.0 Bridge is 16.0. I'm so new to this so this may be working as it's supposed to and I apologize in advance. If I set my camera raw preferences to open all supported JPEG's I cannot open a file in PS before either the RAW or JPEG pic opens in Camera raw first. There are times I just skip bridge/camera raw and want to tweak a pic in PS. With this setting it will not open a RAW file in PS only a JPEG. If I switch the camera raw setting preference to open JPEG with settings the JPEG bypasses camera raw and opens in PS. The RAW files are reversed in that they open in camera raw and I cannot open it directly in PS without it opening in Camera raw first. I hope I'm not confusing you.

Okay I'm back again. I thought this was fixed but have now realized that it will not open any JPEG'S

I managed to double click one and that works. I worked for several hours yesterday trying to get it to work. I was thinking that after I selected my photo that the camera raw button became active. I'm currently going back through Bridge, I'm starting module 4, because I've been away from editing pics etc. for over a year and I was just getting started then. Hubby's health has taken up my time. If I double click a raw file now in the filmstrip, camera raw opens, so I'm apparently good. I made a few tweaks earlier to my device and unistalled and reinstalled Bridge. I have no idea what fixed it. Thanks for your time, i'ts appreciated.

Yes, no matter what I try the camera raw button is not active and will not launch. It isn't an active button. When I look under edit/ camera raw preferences I have this message listed that states graphics acceleration is disabled due to an error. I figure that makes a difference, but I'm not that familiar with the verbiage as I've not had an issue before on my old device, so I don't know what the "normal" verbiage there is.

Here it is. I can hoover over it and it says open camera raw but nothing happens. It's not highlighted like the others.

Hi, I'm hoping you can help me. I recently purchased a laptop Dell XPS with Intel R Core TM Ultra X7 358H (1.90 GHZ) processor, Installed RAM 64.0 GB with 63.5 usable. Graphic card is Intel (R) Arc (TM) B390 GPU (128 MB). My problem is Camera Raw is grayed out no matter what I've tried. I initially was getting an GPU acceleration error in camera raw. When I look in Bridge/camera raw preferences it has Use Graphics Processor Off and below that is Graphics acceleration is disabled due to an error. If I look in Photoshop under preferences/camera raw it has listed Use Graphics processor on auto, and Intel (R) Arc (TM) B390 GPU that my system automatically supports full acceleration. I have unistalled and reinstalled Bridge version 16 with Camera Raw 18.6 plug in. I am definitely a novice, and not super techy. I've spent hours today trying to get this fixed with no luck. I have a PC laptop running Windows 10 and Photoshop 20.0.10. It is under 2 years old, and has 32 gb of RAM. It’s hard drive has 651gb free out of 938gb. The last time I shut down was earlier today. I run a cleanup program about once a month.

I should have mentioned that I tried hitting the tab key with no luck. For whatever reason in order to get my preferences back after minimizing or initially opening it I have to click the tab to select which one I want I.e essentials or my preset and then select reset.

Hi Damien, Here are a few screenshots to display the issues I'm having. I've installed Bridge and Essentials opened like this (Initial Essentials screenshot). In order to get it to look like it should I have to hit reset. I tried closing and reopening and hitting ctrl, alt, and shift to reset and it still opens like this first screen shot. Every time I open it or even minimize it I have to hit reset for it to look like the Essential Reset screenshot. My last screenshot is of my personal setup of Preview which I created. Again, it acts like my Essentials in that every time I open Bridge and select it I still have to hit reset. I am using Bridge version 10.1.1.166
