iPad Pro - viable alternative for editing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, reflecting on the fact that the iPad cannot be calibrated/use colour profiles, is the iPad + Lightroom Cloud actually a viable alternative to something like a Cintiq Companion?  http://www.wacom.com/en-gb/products/pen-displays/cintiq-companion-2

Apple makes a big deal about it being for creative uses, but it feels completely flawed given there is no Lightroom or Photoshop 'app' equivalent which offers the same functionality as the main program.

Any thoughts/feedback appreciated

Personally, I don't think so, for precisely the reasons you identified.  I do use LR Mobile on my iPad, but only for very specific (non-editing) parts of my workflow -- I'll often do my initial cull of a wedding on my iPad while sitting on the couch next to my husband. :)  But I don't use it for any editing.

I thought that if you had the "Elite" Sypder (i.e. Sypder 5 Elite) they had an app that would allow you to use the calibrator so you could calibrate your iPad?

That said, an iPad Pro would be great for showing off your portfolio, not editing with. The Cintiq is designed for this sort of thing.

Hi,

I don't know - My Colour Munki has this - http://blog.xritephoto.com/2014/03/x-rite-colortrue-color-management-ipads-tablets-smartphones/#sthash.DOk0ngjR.dpbs - It allows the viewing of photos from the app, but its doesn't allow colour profiles across the device enabling colours to be represented natively.
