calliechinen Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I just got an EOS R - I took photos yesterday and today. Yesterday I formatted the card and today I took photos like normal. I just took the card out, put it into my computer to copy the pictures and there is not ONE photo from today. I am sick. I took a lot, obviously, it being Christmas but I have no idea what could have happened. The SD card is not locked, I scrolled through some photos today, or so I thought, now I am 2nd guessing myself. I ran a free recover program through cccleaner but it only found the files already on the card. . .
Brian Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 What size is the card? What name brand is it?
calliechinen Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Sandisk Extreme 32 GB - Brand new - I ran a few different recovery programs and was able to recover the files. I don't know what happened. I am just not going to use that card. It is the one that came with my eos r for free
Brian Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Yeah, that is bizarre. Though I have seen plenty of DOA things over the years. Since this camera is new, check the Firmware Level. The current version is 1.6. Here is the link to it on Canon's Website:Canon EOS R Firmware 1
calliechinen Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Thank you. It has the correct firmware so I'm not sure what happened. I took plenty of photos this week and they are all fine on a different card.
Brian Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 I've seen plenty of DOA stuff (aka, "Out of Box Failure") over the years. It happens.
