I want to get a computer to edit with and one that my son can play his computer games on. Will this  be adequate for both functions

Unfortunately, with COVID and limited supply of components that make up the parts that go into computers, plus Import Fees and Tariffs, your budget needs to increase to about $2000 for a computer, and that's IF you can find one with a decent video card.
