TinyAltuve
Hi, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to connect my Dell monitor to my PC. After using an HDMI cable to connect the two, the monitor screen only showed the words “No HDMI Cable.” We figured out the problem was not with the monitor, or cable by plugging them into a different PC, and the problem was not with the GPU, RAM, or Hardrive. The ports are clean and the cables, GPU, and RAM were all plugged in correctly. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thanks!
Brian
Looks like you have a DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI Connector. Is this the only monitor that's hooked up to the computer? Does the motherboard have on-board video? Is there a way to manually select what port you are using on the monitor?
TinyAltuve
Thanks for the help! We actually found out the big problem a few minutes ago. It was one of the RAM ports was just not working at all. We moved the second RAM card to another port and the monitor started working. I also was able to manually select HDMI on the monitor. Thanks for your help again, have a good day! Brian
Interesting!! I've actually run into this with my Son's computer as well. Sometimes, the writing on the Motherboard is wrong, and slots 1 & 3 are linked together, along with 2 & 4. So if you put RAM into slot 1 & 2, you get a whole lot of nothing. Glad you figured it out.
