  1. Pc

Something is going wrong. I’m shutting down everything and restarting computer. It just froze and came up with this error and my screen is now light blue 🤦🏼‍♀️ I need to go back to my nursing job I think 🤔

At the top of this screen the program automatically knows the name of the screen you're calibrating.  It's pretty cool.  I've calibrated a whole bunch of screens and it got it right every time!

    All the important settings

Make sure your screen looks exactly like mine:

    hub.png

    1. The White Point should be 6500K, unless you found out that your lab recommends something different.  If so, choose your lab's setting, but consider finding a new lab very quickly.
    2. Choose "Measured Mode" then type "80" in the White Luminance field.  This will be the brightness of your screen.
    3. Make sure Room Light Compensation is turned off.
    4. The Gray Balance setting will be on "Faster" by default, but let's go for the best possible calibration we can.  Choose "Better" here.
    5. We're about to do a full calibration, so of course choose "FullCAL" here.

The default setting of Gamma 2.2 is always correct, no matter what out-of-date information you might have read about Macs using 1.8.  "Backlight" should be what you chose on a previous screen.

Once all of those settings are input, press "Next".

    Adjust Color Temperature Preset

This is the next screen you'll see:

Go to your screen's controls and choose the "User" or "Custom" setting.  In a moment you'll be tweaking the R, G and B settings in there, to fine-tune the colour.

    Press "Next" again.

    Let's calibrate! >>

Im still not getting the option to change the RGB colours. When I calibrate it goes through the brightness and then says calibration finished. Driving myself nuts I have triple checked all your calibration instructions

  3. Damien its been a little white since I have calibrated due to the joystick on my monitor not working properly. I have been through it tonight and it only checks brightness it hasn't stopped and let me adjust the red blue and green and I remember it asking me to do this in the past. Have I not checked a box or something? My calibrated image colours are off. I always have to lower the K to about 5000 an this has always been the same but I want to adjust the actual rgb as I am sure it all over the place.

  4. and now i instantly feel sick

Ok so once I get to PS i save as a PSD (no editing in photoshop has been done)

Then once editing as been done example levels etc etc then save again?? This is where I am confusing myself I think.

Then I crop it and save as a jpeg for my clients? Then delete the jpeg? So once I crop it they now won't have an issue with printing? far out im sorry for being so daft

  5. Hey, ok so I may be late to the party but all of my photos have been for instagram use only (no prints required)

Now that I have done a few photos for people where they are wanting to print I am discovering a whole new issue with cropping and being able to print. I rang a photo lab to get some advise and she was SOOOOO rude! I know I need to know this stuff but I don't. So please tell me what I need to set my camera to or what not to do when editing/cropping. Photo example below. I did this edit and as I have cropped it and it is now square my client won't be able to print this without it cropping her in half. Same with the wedding i did. I just went to print a family shot and it cuts their feet off. I know i know I should know all this! There is just so much to know.

  6. I tried taking out the Display Port cable and reconnecting it. I tried also shutting down and restarting and now the only thing that will work on the joystick is the volume. I don't even get the option to change contrast anymore. How to I set the monitor back to factory settings when nothing will work on the joystick? I thought it may be my cable that needs replacing but the lady at the repair store seems to think it most likely isn't the cord as it's still connecting to my pc and working. Not sure what else to do? Take it in for repairs? I would like to try and trouble shoot it myself incase its  something I can fix myself

  7. I selcted the subject then added a solid fill colour which worked but I can't figure out how to do the part between her arm. I have tried for over an hour and when in doubt, ask Damien! I have tried using the brush and quick mask to fill in the area i missed but it doesn't work and was beginning to look like a hot mess

  8. I have a PC desktop running windows and Photoshop 23.2.0. It is under 2 years old, and has 16.0GB of RAM. Its hard drive (c Drive) has 220GB free out of 930GB and (d drive) has 2.44TB free out of 3.63TB. The last time I shut down was last night. I run a cleanup program about once a week USING glary.

  9. Hey Brian,

How do I check the health of my PC? It seems to be running really slow especially when trying to cull photos in ACR and then when I click on a photo to open in PS it takes a while to do.
I’m not computer savvy at all so the technical parts of computers I’m clueless so please excuse me if I’m vague.

    thanks

  10. First of all, thank you! I really appreciate your time and reply :) I will RTFM, you guessed it I’m a visual person and need to see things rather than read them but I can’t keep putting things off. I will try everything this week to ensure I am as prepared as possible. Thanks to you and Damien I don’t know what I would have done without you throughout my journey so far!

Thank you for sending the links for me to look at too!!! Lifesaver!

the wedding is all outdoors, the ceremony is in a big marquee where I’ll only be shooting for about half an hour to get the shots of their guests arriving and their entry. Hoping no stupid led lights but I’ll turn on anti flicker anyway!

  11. Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate your in depth reply. I will read, and re read your replies so it all sinks in!

I started out using The Eye tracking when I got the camera then I did a newborn shoot and realised eye tracking was not great in all situations as it wasn’t focusing where I wanted it to! Someone suggested single point AF point using the touch and drag screen which i have been practicing using but when you have to shoot quickly I have been using the zone focus to ensure I don’t miss focus. Awesome camera but still trying to figure out the best way to use it.

I will get another 64 fb card so when I swap them out I have two new ones ready to go. How will I know when the cards are ready to swap over? I’m not sure the R6 tells you how many shots you have left.

  12. Hello

I am shooting my first wedding next week. I’m using my new Canon R6. I have two 64gb SD cards in the camera which I have set up to copy to both. I then have a spare 64gb card ready to go if I run out of space. I shoot in RAW and I’ll be shooting for 5 hours.

My question is  How many photos can I take before the SD card runs out? I’ve been told conflicting things from my local camera store and then I by TEDS. One person said I can take approximately 4-500 photos if I’m shootings at full capacity and then after that I can keep taking pics but the file size is reduced?!! Then TEDS said they don’t believe that’s true, they said my SD card will hold way more photos than 500. I know it does because I have been taking approximately 1000 images at my normal shoots, but I’ve never noticed it resizing the files. Exhale…. Ok help! I don’t understand. I don’t think the R6 has a feature either to tell me when I’m about to run out of space on the card.
