  1. whew...i have so much to learn before i have images worthy of a watermark!
  2. if i am happy with place embedding my watermark on my images for now, can i wait to learn to use the actions at a later time?
  3. i always used full resolution jpegs for facebook. is the reason not to do that so people can't lift the image and print it?
  4. for now, the only thing i really use is facebook or instagram. (I just set up two preset crops, per info on your resources, a 2048height and a 2048 width...im guessing i can use one of those two to save an image for web, and instagram is 4 x 5 or 1 x 1)
  5. no, i 'm not sure how. I'd usually just save as a jpeg and use that.
  6. hmm. i dont think i can go any further with this segment untill i learn to save for web and learn how to use USM.
  7. Im not experienced in doing this, so I'm not exactly sure where i went wrong...am i supossed to open my photo and continue to part 3: Use it and apply the watermark where i use place embedded first, before using the action? i can do that and get m y watermark onthe photo and move it where ever there...
  8. nevermind this jumble...i've finished a watermark in the meantime, but realized that my problem is that i have not learned to save for Web, which is what i was trying to figure out how to do at this point
  9. after a lot of work i made a watermark, i know im a bit lost...but i can use a watermark with place imbedded ...but then i get this message ... also, I guess i have never resized an image for web!
  10. how do you do it without a watermark untill i get one?
  11. Hi Damien, is it ok to use your save as Jpeg action to save an image copy for for facebook? what about Instagram which uses a diferent composition? i dont see the option to save at different pixel numbers of 720, 960 or 2048 thank you! wait, sorry...I think I see there is an action with the "watermark segment". i will read that...but I have yet to tackle a watermark....thank you.
  12. "You can’t go back later, so it has to be right." got it...
  13. "At any time during your workflow, you can simply return to the Background layer, make the new layer, and do whatever you need to do. " I'm not sure if i understood ... does this mean if i open a file and immediately duplicate the solid layer and next 1) add a blank layer and make adjustments there (say healing blemishes) and then i 2) add say an exposure layer (or whatever) and then add say 3) any other layer. If i decide i want to use Liquify now i can just go down to the copied layer just above the locked image, and do my Liquifying? I dont have to flatten the first few adjustments first? all the adjustments remain in the correct place?
  14. This is critical information i wish i learned years ago! I've spent so much time trying to figure out how to manage cropping, both in camera and in processing workflow, particularly for printing ans saving for different purposes! But, never did I consider this. Thank you.
  15. what is a server? i tried to download we transfer but iits very confusing to me. yes, i mean the best way to send them so they open up properly. i thought i needed to use a small memory stick
  16. Hi Damien, I'm reading about selling digital files what is the best way to deliver about 15 to 20 11x15 cropped and edited jpeg images (using your PS save action) to a client? Im not concerned with limiting print sizes. thx
  17. ok i wont bother to try that "Calibrate" then! System preferences also gives me options of color profiles to pick from and ther are some that say SRGB? ...So by keep the posts coming, do you mean i can now go back to trying to find my white balance on old craw files, or do i need to reshoot photos again? Also... i now think i must also be just shooting too dark to begin with .
  18. so now what? do i keep it here while i edit? until i can get it calibrated? There is also an option to "Calibrate" the screen here in the settings.
  19. this is frustrating...ok,,if it is just the brightness, the pictures look closest to my screen on the second or third brightness level. but then my photos are still warmer, and a bit pinker than my screen
  20. Im not sure what you want me to adjust, the brightness? or the colors?
  21. i went to system preferences, but i dont know where screen prfernces are. If i click color it give me color profile names?
  22. these settings make my screen look similar to the printed photo
  23. is this ok...it says srgb at the bottom laft but RGB at the top right
