okay good to hear, but I have had issues with this lens before I have to manually adjust the lens calibration in the camera and had to do so mid shoot by guessing.. curious to see what you say of the other family shot - yes they wanted the sunset behind them, which wasn't quite setting yet but the rest of the family was over it haha. My next mission is to figure out how to use my damn fill flash..
-
Okay, yes definitely not perfect. Definitely think I’m going to ditch this lens.
-
PS please don't yell at me more than once for not doing raw processing on the 3 I shared.
-
Last one until you say something I promise. all the group shots right here are pretty similar to this. Keep or cull? again, no raw processing obviously. The reason I'm not is because it'll need a lot of noise removal and I'm afraid we won't be able to tell at all at that point. thank you Damien.

sRGB problem
MJD replied to MJD's topic in Photoshop / Elements / Bridge / ACR questions or problems
Nevermind. I was able to go to camera raw settings and fix it there. worth leaving up here in case anyone else had the auto update and had the same issue. -
I just posted some photos for focus check - but I noticed that they were not in sRGB - photoshop updated to 2021. I followed the tutorial for checking the color space - it is set to sRGB but the file still says rgb. I have provided two screen shots to show you.
-
I'm only going to post two right now because I know you're going to ask me to do raw editing.. I did a quick noise removal on this one..
-
I don't even want to bother with RAW if the focus is off.. Unless its absolutely necessary. Freaking out.
-
they are ghastly I know. look man you finally taught an old dog new tricks. I'll have to take a look on my hard drive, if I find something close to original where would you like me to post it for fixing? and If this is all I have? just pretend they don't exist and offer wicked cheap sessions? lol
-
yup, Pretty sure.

I'm getting relatively comfortable and somewhat more confident in my editing. But I have a problem - All the photos I've taken in the past of people are wrong probably in every way - not in sRGB, not white balanced, JPG and probably not large files a good chunk of them. However.. I'd like to start working again and I have to start showing something other than pictures of my kids. What would be the best way to approach giving these photos proper justice? Can I process them in ACR the same and take them into PS for levels? I've included a few.. its not like I have an extensive gallery but I've picked out some of the good ones over the years.

But the basics are there for it right? I have to be very careful with my wording - by the basics I mean the image captured, in general - is very pleasing to the eyes - with lots of potential -- this looks like great lighting and subject to me - After taking the RAW class I see what you're saying - and seeing the link provided I know there's a lot more to do after to this image. I didn't see the OP come back - did she take the classes? You should! Listen, its like this. Do you want Damien to give you a fish today, or do you want Damien to teach you how to fish so you can catch them on your own whenever you want in the future?

NPF even nature telling me to use WB sheet
MJD posted a topic in Miscellaneous questions or problems
Hope this is okay.. I know you’re fond of cats. Been a little preoccupied the last couple of days - I took in a pregnant stray And she had her kittens yesterday morning and thought you would get a kick out of my “white balance sheet” litter. Get ready for your feed to get a little more adorable over the next month ❤️ -
https://www.damiensymonds.net/2014/03/distortion-or-perspective-correction.html here, yes? so, should I do that first before levels?
-
hoping this is a concise place to ask. I saw you reference this in a response to a levels submission https://www.damiensymonds.net/2010/01/straightening-horizons.html is this something I should be incorporating before I start my levels as well? (If applicable) likewise, is this where you would make an adjustment if there was some lens distortion? Can you link me to something on that? I have a photo waiting your approval in Raw that I’d also like you to verify if you see some lens distortion and how and when to address. (The bells bell)

Hey Brian! sometimes my screen flickers.. I can resolve it by turning it on and off but when I did that last I noticed this prompt - can you tell me what I've done wrong here? and how I can fix the flickering and if its related? All my plugs seem to be fitted and tightened correctly, a blue one with the adapter and a white one.

Yes! Well I forgot to mention that a lot of my lens stock came from my d80! Haven’t invested much in a long time. Now in my early 30s always had an interest was semi professional with some nice resume points but kind of fell out 5 years ago after my first was born. I have two boys now, the other is 3. They run circles around me, nice to delve back into the craft and taking the right financial steps and educational steps. I miss my 80-200 should save to have that fixed first, bulky but handy.

Not a very impressive or compatible set; I’ll have to look for sure but 18-140dx 1.35 35mm DX afs 50 mm mentioned before. 50mm film lens and a 80-200 waiting in queue a la repair shop. The bill is a pretty one.. $440 but comparable to a used lens on eBay at least mine coming back to me will be verified working good condition. Had my first lens ever come back not worth repairing. Also a wide angle ds sigma 17-70. they’re okay. I’m comfortable with my 35mm, again my understanding is it’s more like a 50mm because of its specs. I read your list and keep referring to it from time to time. Dropped a lot of money on getting all this up and going - if I’m really going to get serious I know (and have always known) a well stocked fast optimal kit of lenses would be preemo, but we all know about that rabbit hole. Anyway my next big purchase will be the 85mm on the list.
