  1. Took me a bit to figure out everything you had done but WOW! that is so amazing. Thank you!
  2. Hi Damien, Curious about any techniques to change the hot pink streak of hair to the same colour as the rest of the hair. Thanks.
  3. Funny timing... Yes it has. It came out nice and detailed Just a few minutes ago I pulled out the magnifying glass to have a real up close look at it.
  4. I get that when I shrink it that is increasing the ppi but understanding how to use the program to do it is that part that escaped me. I know that because the lab prints at 300ppi there is no point in going higher than that. Maybe it is just interpretation of my wording.... increasing being changing from 72 to 300 which in fact actually decreases the ppi but is an increase in the number entered. I honestly haven't used the image resize dialog box much at all and wasn't used to it automatically putting numbers in resolution box.
  5. No just plain stupid to miss that was the issue. So yes I need to increase it. Is there a rule of thumb as to how much you can increase it when starting with 72 dpi?
  6. Hi Damien, I am trying to take a photo (that is not great quality to start with) and shrink it down really tiny (to 17mm across). The final product gets printed and then mounted in a small metal frame and resin coated. I am using bicubic sharper for reductions but finding the quality loss is still too much. Do you have any secrets I can use to reduce the size and still maintain decent quality? I have printed one out and it is just passable but if I can improve it I would love to. I have attached the original, the in process screenshot and the reduced file. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi Brian, tagging onto this thread as it picks up on the link you included as an option for a recommended laptop (for those of us that think we have to have a laptop)... Two questions. Firstly, the one you have linked is no longer available but a similar one is. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1304022-REG/asus_gl553vd_ds71_15_6_republic_of_gamers.html The only issue I see is that it does not mention it is an IPS based screen rather an anti glare screen. Wondering what your thoughts are on that? Also for editing purposes is it reasonable to have the laptop and connect up to a decent standard monitor? Thanks very much in advance.
  8. Hi Damien, Another 'out of the box' sharpening question. For an image that will be used in a PowerPoint presentation are there any guidelines or recommendations you have regarding sharpening? Would I sharpen as for web? Thanks.
  9. Okay, good news I have confirmed it would just be for viewing on an electronic device (although they of course come in all shapes and sizes) but it wont be printed. I am going to make it 272 px x 272 px. So now do I just do my normal process sharpening for web? Thanks.
  10. Okay, she is using Beacon software and from their site I have determined that if it were to be a full page image, which it isn't, then it would be 816 px by 1056 px. Am I correct in assuming I would leave the ppi empty as it is intended for screen viewing?
  11. My sister is. I am currently trying to find out what software she is using so perhaps I can research some specs.
  12. Hi Damien, I am posting here as I believe it applies to web sharpening but not sure. I am preparing a print to be used in an e-book. As an e-book is always viewed on an electronic device am I correct that I would sharpen as though I am sharpening for the web? Hoping that there is not an option to print the e-book..... Thanks!
