  1. Yes!!! That did the trick. So weird! The only strange thing is that my brightness really needed to be cranked up to hit 80 as a target- I don't remember that being the case before- so strange. I'm off to compare pictures....
  2. Hello Damien, I just recalibrated my laptop monitor using a Spyder 4 Pro- I used the "full calibration" option and what is interesting, is it didn't do the pause to allow for brightness adjustment. The reason I'm extra concerned about this is that I noticed that my power settings on my new laptop were varying- i.e. brighter when plugged in vs' darker (power save) when running on battery alone. I went into the settings and modified them so that they were consistent- it was at 80 for plugged in and I originally set my calibration settings while plugged in so I assumed that made sense but ran a calibration to use the brightness "pause" to make sure that I'm in the range I mentioned. Additionally, I noticed that the last set I ordered had a few photos that were much darker than anticipated, which I'm attributing to editing while the laptop was running on battery. Any thoughts, advice, etc. would be most appreciated! Thanks much in advance, Kerry Ann
  3. Thanks! Yes, I reached out to see what the editor things / recommends based with this in mind. I'm wondering if it just might be time for me to bite the bullet and upgrade to Adobe Cloud....I do think that you are hitting on exactly my concern with compatibility though. I am also a Damien disciple and don't do that whole LR thing so I noticed a few outsourcing services are a no go for use as I can't handle an LR catalogue. Thanks again for your help on this! 4. Dear Wise Sage, Can XMP data be incorporated into a DNG file? I know that someone could send an XMP file and that could easily be incorporated into a CR file but can it happen with a DNG file? I know that all of the edits are saved directly to the DNG file. So, for example, if I wanted to do a little outsourcing, and my camera is too new for my old Adobe CS5 so I convert my CR files to DNGs in order to edit, could I send the DNG for editing, have the file edited and send the XMP file back? Then could I apply the XMP file edits to my existing DNG? Alternatively, if someone edited my DNG file, could they just send back the DNG file and would it open with the edits without issue? Are there any reasons why that would not occur. Clearly file versions and changes are boggling my mind despite reading your DNG and XMP articles! I also googled like a crazy person before posting this- so....well, that probably didn't help in the clarification department! Thanks, Kerry Ann
  5. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I finished editing a gallery last night and it was looking great. turned on the computer last night and can't find my folders- The folder containing the PSD files and the folder containing the JPG files are gone. I use Windows 10 and this happened the other day with my PSD and JPG files. I looked every where and in recent files and I get a warning stating that the source info doesn't exist. when I click on the files in the "recent history" I'm about to loose my mind over here. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. I did google this and struggled to find anything remotely similar in terms of an issue. I really appreciate any help in advance. This is quickly adding up to significant lost hours of work!!!
