nlr7 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I have added a couple of texture layers to a photo using Blend If and then used a couple of clipped adjustments to modify the textures a bit. Also added a subtle vignette to balance tones. Is there a better / more preferred way to do this? Attached are screenshots of the Before and After.
Damien Symonds Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 No, I'd say what you've done is perfect. It adheres perfectly to the non-destructive principles.
nlr7 Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Thanks Damien. I would like to begin taking still life pictures such as the ones in these links. And I do intend to print them going forward. Are these digital backdrops and textures? Or could they be real physical ones? I ask because there is so much finesse in the completed product and the backdrops vary too! Sorry these are generic links but I thought it would be easier to judge seeing a range of pictures by the same photographer. https://500px.com/tskorokhod https://www.google.co.in/search?q=Irene+Mosina&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjH_uvyiarLAhXWBY4KHeKhDkkQsAQIIg&biw=2560&bih=1315#imgrc=OFcAzwt4wBfy9M%3A
Damien Symonds Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I would say the texture is artificial in most cases, but the background itself (its colour and shadows) are probably real, or at least real-ish.
Damien Symonds Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Such is the price of masterpieces. If making beautiful art was easy, everyone would do it.
