How to set black point in curves

When I double click on the topmost eyedropper to pick a color my foreground wont change to anything except white.  Wondering what exactly Im doing wrong. (trying to fix a color cast) Appreciate all help. Thank you

That's because you have the mask selected, most likely.  I wrote about it here.

I'll need to see a screenshot of what you're working on.  It's unusual for this to be the correct solution for cast removal.

And the screenshot?  Because I'm sure Damien is dying to weigh in on whether this is actually the best way to handle the cast you're trying to correct.

sorry guys I'am now just seeing this. Attached a screen shot of the image Im working on. I double clicked on the topmost eyedropper to select a 'color cast' but it wont change to anything except to white. I thought I had it figured out when Damien mentioned that I might have a mask selected but double checked and no mask was active and even flattened the image just to be sure.

Good grief, you don't use Curves for that, and you definitely don't use the black eyedropper.

Dang..I feel like an idiot! lol..I've been missing out! Thank you Damien, the filter method is definitely easier than what I had been trying to do
