Sarah Alloway Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Im having some real issues with my liquify tool - its really struggling - I try to move something and my curser moves but the actual thing Im trying to move just sits there for ages... and just now it took ages for the liquify screen to even open.... is it a RAM thing or is it something else? I tried updating my video card driver software but its already up to date.
Damien Symonds Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Forgive me if I've asked you this before, but can you fill this out for me?
Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 I have a PC desktop running Windows 7 and Photoshop CS5. It is over 2 years old, and has 12GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 8GB free out of 111GB. The last time I shut down was just before posting this thread. I have never run a cleanup program.

Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 No not a typo. My brother is a computer geek and I've asked him how to free up space before and after looking at what i have on there, he reckons I cant which is so frustrating. Im asking him again now and am currently running a cleanup program. I also had 1gb of useless stuff in a folder on my desktop which I just deleted, but ok thanks at least I have something to try.
Damien Symonds Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Brian always says you need at least 1/3rd of the hard drive free. How many internal hard drives does your computer have? Only the one?
Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 I only have the 1 internal hard drive. My brother just helped me run a clean up and clear some cashe's and stuff, and now I have 23 gb free. This is more than double what I had yesterday, and yesterday my liquify tool was working. Now its not. Is there anything else that could be causing this?
Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 wtf I just tried on another image and it works fine... what on earth could cause it to not work on a specific image? Have I seriously been sitting around like a duck over ONE IMAGE!!!!???
Damien Symonds Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Well, what was different about that one image? Was it, for example, 16-bit?
Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 No but it is ginormous. How do I make a few duplicate layers (e.g. portraiture, then liquify, then patch tool) without making the file so huge?
Damien Symonds Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Liquify MUST come before those other things. http://www.damiensymonds.net/2015/07/order-of-layers-for-complex-pixel-edits.html
Sarah Alloway Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Gosh I was just pressing Ctrl + Shift + E over and over at the start.... will print this out and put it on my wall, thank you :-)
