Editing room lighting - thought it went here best.

I have purchased the correct bulbs for my editing room, however the light switch in this room has a dimmer and Lowes said that the bulbs I needed weren't available in a dimmer, so I purchased the regular and they burn out fast. My question is this: is it best to have the correct bulbs in the overhead light? Or could I get away with having a floor lamp with the correct lighting in them? Thanks in advance!

I'm very distrustful of lamps.  Their light is so directional, they can never provide the nice even lighting your room needs.

Just out of curiosity, D -- does this also apply to the halogen-style floor lamps, that point the light up at the ceiling and light up the room via ceiling bounce?

Well, that would definitely depend on the paint colour of the ceiling.

Of course -- so with white ceilings, and reasonable placement of an up-casting floor lamp, would that be analogous enough to good bulbs in a ceiling fixture?

Thank you. I will continue to purchase bulbs. Wish it wasnt on a dimmer, it flickers sometimes and I have to barely move the knob to get it to stop. Very frustrating.
