Small Patch of Sunflare

Hi Damien, 
I am trying to figure out the best way to remove a patch of sunflare in this image. I wanted flare to make it dramatic and I want to keep most of it, but there's one patch that just looks like an ugly smudge. Suggestions for best way to remove it? 
First pic is the full image, 2nd has the area I am referring to circled in red.

Hi Carly,

Most of it looks like it will be fixed easily with the Handyman Method.

But the bit on the top of the rocks, just below the trees, looks very strong, doesn't it?  May I see a 100% crop of that area?

Yep, Handyman will work there too.

Remember, it's not a quick fix.  Use a low opacity brush, and patience.
