Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 I've always saved in srgb. I recently updated my creative cloud software and now using photoshop 2017 and it's saving in prophoto. I load my images in Lightroom and then move them to photoshop to edit. When I change it to srgb color profile the image looks terribly off color. HELP what am I doing wrong.
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 How are you changing to sRGB, exactly?
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Have you checked over your settings? https://www.damiensymonds.net/color-space-settings-for-the-lightroom-user.html
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 Here's what my files show. To me it's confusing as it looks as if it's set for Srgb but we I have to save it's saying prophoto
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 Now I've messed around with it so much photoshop will not open my photos from Lightroom. Any suggestions there. Terribly frustrated that I upgraded.

Does it give you an error message when you try to open a photo from LR to PS?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 No it just opens to the start screen
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Just to check - you don't have any older version of Photoshop installed on your computer?
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Also, have you checked with photos from a few different sessions? Are none of your photos at all able to open in Photoshop? Or just from one set?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 It was running but I uninstalled it with the problem occurred. And yes I've tried different sessions.
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 I'm wondering I am running an a MacBook with the OS X Yosemite. Do I need to upgrade the software? It was working so I don't know why all of a sudden it stopped
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) Actually it looks like the previous photoshop did not uninstall so I'm doing that now. That did not solve the problem Edited November 18, 2017 by Jennyhop
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Ok, now check Lightroom's preferences to make sure they're pointing to the right version of Photoshop, I guess. 30 days, Jenny. Just give me 30 days to change your life. https://www.damiensymonds.net/bridge-30-day-challenge Not only will your life be MUCH simpler, your images will be better as well.
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 Yes it is! And it is opening jpeg from LR to PS but not CR2 files I probably need to do this I just need to get my head above water from my fall sessions if I can get this to work then I will take you up on this! I really don't like LR.

If you go and find a raw file on your hard drive, and double-click it, what happens? In which program does it open?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 It opens PS and says could not complete your request bc ps doesn't recognize this type of file
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Whoa. That's weird. Haven't you got the latest version of Photoshop?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 Yes I just upgraded the 2017 version and this is when all my problems arose
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 One more question, then I'm completely stumped ... I know that Photoshop, in its Preferences, has a button that says "Reset all warning dialogs". I assume Lightroom has the same button in its preferences. Can you find it?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) Yes found it in LR should i click this? Edited November 18, 2017 by Jennyhop
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Yes please. Then, when you again try to open a photo from LR to PS, it should come up with a dialog with some options. Does it?
Jennyhop Posted November 18, 2017 Author Posted November 18, 2017 It's not opening JPEG files either that I try to open straight from the computer
Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Just now, Jennyhop said: It's not opening JPEG files either that I try to open straight from the computer The same error message?

Damien Symonds Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Ok, wow. Something is screwy. If you are in Photoshop, and go to File>Open, can you navigate to the jpeg file you just tried, and open it that way? Also, can you do this for me? https://www.damiensymonds.net/thread1.html
