JMB
Hello Damien, I was wondering if you can suggest a way of removing the picture from above the chair? I have tried the spot healing brush tool and the clone stamp tool, but neither seem to work very well on the blue colour. Is there a better technique or tool to use? Many thanks Jon
Damien Symonds
Oh boy, these aren't easy. This is the method you need to use: https://www.damiensymonds.net/preventing-banding-in-backdrops/ Does this look satisfactory?
JMB
Oh excellent! Looks great. Thanks will give the method above a try.
Damien Symonds
It's a really difficult one, especially if you've never used gradients before. Download my PSD to see the layers I used.
JMB
Yeah just finding that out now! Should have taken the picture off the wall...

JMB
I had a quick try, but it didn't go well. I am going to sit down this week and try again whilst closely following your video as well! Will let you know how I get on. Thanks
JMB
Hi Damien, Here is my attempt. I think it went ok. Anything I could have done better? There does seem to be some vertical lines where the picture used to be. is there anything that can be done about that? Thanks Jon

Damien Symonds
Hmmm ... everything seems to be in order there. I can't see why there would be lines. Did you remember to check the "Dither" box for each of the gradients?
JMB
Yeah, just checked and the Dither is ticket for them all. I followed all the settings from your PSD file above. ticked*
Damien Symonds
Gosh, I really don't know, sorry. Can you send me one of the PSD files? https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/BellePhotography
JMB
How very strange! Thanks, uploading the file at the moment. Should be with you any min
Damien Symonds
Got it, thanks. It's as smooth as silk, I promise. Absolutely no lines at all. If you're seeing lines it must be a problem with your screen, not your file.
