Brenda BB Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro laptop that I am trying to calibrate with a Spyder4pro. I have followed your directions exactly and each time I end up with a very yellow screen. Skin looks extremely yellow and does not match my prints at all. Please help! Thank you.
Damien Symonds Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Hi Brenda, take a look at the troubleshooting section at the bottom of the Spyder 5 Pro instructions. They're not identical, but should give you some clues to try. Let me know if anything helps. How long have you had both the calibrator and the laptop?
Brenda BB Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 I just bought the laptop used.( it's from 2010) The calibrator I have had for about 3 years and have calibrated my desktop successfully with it. I will take a look at the above advice and let you know, Thank you
Damien Symonds Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Do you still have your desktop computer as well?
Brenda BB Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 I do have my desktop still. So tried it again with the white point at different values and I still get this nasty yellow screen no matter what. Not sure what do do now?
Damien Symonds Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Ok, let's plug the desktop screen into your laptop and calibrate that. If it calibrates successfully, we'll at least know that the calibrator is still ok, and works ok with the Mac OS.
Brenda BB Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 So my MacBook Pro does not have a VGA insert and I can't connect the laptop to it
Damien Symonds Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Oh, interesting. Does your screen have another option? Eg HDMI?
Brenda BB Posted February 23, 2018 Author Posted February 23, 2018 Sorry I'm just now getting back at you. The extension to my monitor is a VGA on both ends. Not sure how I can connect to my MacBook? I do know that it calibrates my desktop with no issues.
Damien Symonds Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 No, sorry, I didn't mean the cable. I meant the actual monitor. Does it have any other ports, apart from the VGA one?
Brenda BB Posted February 24, 2018 Author Posted February 24, 2018 The monitor has not USB ports it has the VGA and another that also looks like a VGA type port
Damien Symonds Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 How old is the monitor? May I have a link to its specs?
Damien Symonds Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 No, sorry, the monitor. What brand/model is it?
Brenda BB Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 I hope this is what you are asking for?
Damien Symonds Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 No, I really just want to you tell me about the monitor. What brand is it?
Damien Symonds Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 This one? https://www.cnet.com/products/lg-w2243t-pf-lcd-monitor-full-hd-1080p-21-5/specs/
Damien Symonds Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Those specs, under "Video Input", say that the monitor has a DVI port. Can you find it on yours?
Brenda BB Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 I do see that, I don't have a cord for it though
Damien Symonds Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Luckily they're not very expensive. You'll need a DVI to DisplayPort, or DVI to Mini DisplayPort, depending what your Macbook has. DVI to DisplayPort DVI to Mini DisplayPort
Damien Symonds Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Alternatively, you can consider upgrading your calibrator, I guess, to see if a newer one will work better on the Macbook screen. But since it's an older screen, I don't think a newer calibrator will help, to be honest.
Brenda BB Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 So how do other people calibrate their MacBooks? what do you think is the problem?
