extending background

Hi Damien - can you please help me with extending the backdrop in this photo? My studio is quite small so there were so many shadows on the backdrop - i tried using the gradient tool to smooth it out but was disaster - i also tried a solid colour layer and masked in the subjects - but it just looked too fake - can you help please? (note there are a couple of head swaps and elbow added for the boy on the right in the attached photo)

How about this?

I'm not fond of the bottom right-hand corner.  Really it should have baseboard there.

that looks really good! i was trying to copy the bit of the floorboard from the left over to the right and blend it up into the backdrop but it wasn't really working for me

i do have this other picture of the set up without the people to see the floor but taken at different angle so not sure if it is much use?

No, if you want it lighter, use a lighter gradient in that area.
