Melissalile
Hi Damien. I'm looking for a 40" computer monitor to hang on my wall for my sales appointments. I don't need to calibrate to edit, but I certainly want to get a monitor to calibrate for viewing the images. Do you have a recommendation for something that is a reasonable price? Damien Symonds
Hi Melissa, what will it be connected to? Your normal editing computer, or another one?
Melissalile
HI Damien. I will have it connected to my editing computer.
Damien Symonds
The words "40 inch" and "monitor" don't really go together. Or if they do, they're accompanied by the words "hideously expensive". You're really looking for a TV, I figure?
Melissalile
Well, I projected my images on a tv for a while and the photos looked awful because I couldn't really get the brightness and contrast to match my images on my computer screen. It was just a thought. Right now I have a 28" Dell monitor on a wheeled cart that I bring closer to the client. It's small, but the monitor is great. By "hideously expensive", what are you thinking? Damien Symonds
Well, if you were to go for a good brand like Dell, I can't imagine you'd get any change from a thousand dollars.
Melissalile
Ouch! Ok. My wheeled cart it is. Thank you!
Damien Symonds
Actually, this one is much more affordable than I expected. IPS and everything. I'm not familiar with this particular screen, but I've always been impressed with LG screens in general.
Damien Symonds
Or you could take a big risk on something as cheap as this one, but there's every chance it might not calibrate well.
Damien Symonds
What did you decide in the end, @Melissalile?
Melissalile
I decided to wait on the larger monitor and use my existing monitor on a wheeled cart. That way I can pull the cart close to the client.
