Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 One of 17 headshot clients, drew in her eyebrows crooked before she came into the makeshift studio for her turn. I told her I would try to fix, but no guarantee that it would work. I also have to work it around her glasses. Any ideas?
Damien Symonds Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Go ahead and do your raw processing first, then post again and we'll discuss the brows.
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I had done most of the raw before posting, but as you saw I forgot to change pages on your raw class flow chart and get to the noise removal... I hope in time it becomes rote & that I remember that part. I always played around with the raw edits in ACR, but never really knew what I was doing. Here is the 700x700 fixed up.
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Holy crap did I miss it? Oye vey!!! WOW what a difference it made. Thanks Damo for the swift kick.
Damien Symonds Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Ok, so, what's the trouble, exactly? Is it how it points upwards in the middle, a bit triangular?
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 One of the other gals was in with her and noticed how high above her glasses it is, compared to the other eye. That made her super conscious of it. I think if I can just on a whole, move it down a bit, she would be super happy. I told her that I was not sure if it was possible but that I would give it a go.
Damien Symonds Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Ok, in that case it might be a Liquify job. Have you used Liquify before?
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 No...not successfully anyway. I messed around with it to see what it did about 6-8 months ago and got super frustrated.
Damien Symonds Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Ok, can you give me another 100% crop, where the eyebrow is in the centre of the crop? 1
Damien Symonds Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Yay! So, first I duplicated the Background layer, in order to use the Liquify filter. Using a big brush (as big as the eye and eyebrow area together, roughly) I massaged the eyebrow down to a nice shape, and a bit lower. As you can see, I ignored the weird wonkiness I was inflicting on the glasses - that doesn't matter a bit: Here's a screenshot of the mesh in Liquify, if it helps: Then I pressed OK to get out of Liquify. Then added a mask to the liquified layer, so that I could prevent the glasses being warped: Finally, a cloning layer to tidy up a few areas: Hope this helps. 2
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I will have to try this tomorrow morning. Was the tool just a brush? I looked at it & played a bit while waiting for your advice & noticed there was a bloat tool, a pucker tool, etc. Lots of choices of tools in Elements 13.
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Ok...thanks so much Damien. She is going to be thrilled...& some am I!! 1
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I did the liquefy on it's layer and then added the the duplicate background layer for cloning and it inserted itself between the liquefy layer and the background layer, not adding it at the top. I tried leaving it where it was and cloning but it did not seem to work. I then tried moving the layer up and it looks like it undid the liquefy layer... What did I do wrong?
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I just figured out what I did wrong. I should not have gone back down & duplicated the background layer.... I should have duplicated the liquefy layer. That is working because it adds it above and the cloning is working.
Christina Keddie Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 @Diana, next time do your cloning on a new *blank* layer, with the clone tool set to sample all layers. 1
Diana Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Well Damon said to duplicate it so I did... lol... once I duplicated the the liquefy layer I was ok & when I "dabbed" instead of dragging the clone stamp it worked great. I will have to try your suggestion next time.
