Loopykat Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 My images look less saturated when I open them from ACR to Photoshop. The colour spaces are the same. I had a little search around and tried changing the proof set up but it didn't really make much difference.
Loopykat Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 I've just opened this job up in Lightroom, the colours are showing in there the same as PS, I'll do a screenshot.
Damien Symonds Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Sorry about my delayed reply. First, can you tell me which one Bridge matches? ACR or Photoshop?
Loopykat Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) I'm out and about at the moment on my laptop so don't have my monitor to compare them. I've had a look anyway and they all look the same on my (as calibrated as it can be) laptop screen. From memory the ACR image is the odd one out, Bridge looks like Photoshop. Sounds like it's going to be a calibration issue? I've no idea how to remedy it though. My calibrator is not quite a year old. Edited June 15, 2016 by Loopykat
Damien Symonds Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Can you clarify your setup? It sounds like you are using a desktop screen plugged into a laptop, is that correct?
Damien Symonds Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Ok, excellent. How long have you noticed this problem? And the associated question, how long since your last calibration?
Loopykat Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 I only started using ACR when I booked onto your raw course so I first noticed it when I got to the editing part of the course and then posted. It's only been a couple of weeks since the last calibration. Could my room set up cause a problem? I've been wondering about making a hood for my monitor, I can't find any to buy.

It's unlikely your room is causing the issue since it appears different in separate programs. (a room issue would impact all the programs the same)
Samantha LaRue Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Have you seen this post? Someone had a similar issue, so perhaps their solution can help you?

Loopykat Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 I'm back, unfortunately that fix ended up not really being a fix unfortunately. If I use it I have to choose to either turn off the calibrated profile on my monitor and loose the calibration on that (not happening) or on my laptop (which I hate, I'm having to toggle back and forth depending on whether I'm editing or not). I've also noticed that ACR is still not quite the same as photoshop and that the problem extends to web browsers as well, I mainly use Chrome but have been using Firefox for the course and the problem is on both. I'm at a loss about what to do and I don't know where to start looking. At the moment I either have to put up with the inconvenience of changing the laptop monitor profile every time I want to edit and the slight difference in ACR or use Lightroom (which I know you don't recommend) and put up with the web browser porblem. Do you have any suggestions or ideas?
Loopykat Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 5 Pro, I've followed your instructions to calibrate as best I could. I can't get the brightness on my monitor as low as I would like but I'm happy with the colours.
Loopykat Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 They're not very close, the laptop screen is less saturated and flatter.
Damien Symonds Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 That's very comon. So, which one matches your pro lab prints?
Damien Symonds Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 And just so I'm perfectly straight with all this ... When your desktop monitor isn't plugged in, and you're using your laptop screen, all three programs (Bridge, ACR and Photoshop) look the same. Am I right so far? What about when the desktop monitor is plugged in? Do all three programs still look the same on the laptop screen? Or does the problem of difference suddenly appear? The problem of difference is evident on the desktop screen whenever it's plugged in. Yes?
Loopykat Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 All three programs look the same on the laptop screen whether the desktop monitor is plugged in or not. The problem of difference is evident on the desktop screen all the time.
Damien Symonds Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Thanks. In Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution which screen is the primary (1) display?
