Best way to add bars to a letter jacket

What is the best/easiest way to add 3 more bars to the arm of his letter jacket? They need to be added after the last one. I have 2 photos to do this to. Thanks so much in advance for any advice. I am guessing composite of a duplicate pic.

Shouldn't be any trouble?  Just select a chunk of the Background layer like this:

And Ctrl J it onto its own layer, move it down, and mask it in.
