Switching an external hardrive to new PC

Recommended Posts

My new PC arrives today and I have an external hardrive that I would like to take off my old pc and use with the new one because it has some personal pictures on it I will want access to. In the past, I've had issues with drives where I switched the port and the drive letter changed.  I don't want to mess anything up. Is there anything special I need to do?

Nothing special, but the Drive Letter is dependent on what the OS deems on your new computer. You can always change a Drive Letter, that's pretty straightforward. Plug in your EHD into the new computer and go from there. Let me know if we need to change the letter or not.
