Stuck on 'checking for updates'

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please help me with my iMac not showing updates. 

It says there is an update but when I go into software update, it constantly spins and says checking for updates. 

I am currently using a 2019 iMac and running Catalina. I believe I have enough storage....approx 400GB of 1TB remaining.

I'm not sure how to delete this, but it seems to have sorted itself out. Turned it on this morning and it was all good. Thanks anyway

Yeah, Catalina just had an update. I just updated mine. This happens from time-to-time. There is no "Fix," except I'd leave your Mac on and connected to the internet. Eventually things will sort themselves out.
