Meegan Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Hey Damian, I'm encountering an issue with Bridge/ACR - when I try to open my raw files in ACR (through Bridge), Photoshop begins to open but then everything just stops... the raw file never opens and I need to go to 'Task Manager' and end Photoshop/Bridge that way. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Bridge but it hasn't helped. Jpegs open fine in Photoshop separately. Any idea what the problem is/what I'm doing wrong? Cheers, Meegan

Meegan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 I have a PC laptop running Windows 11 Home and Photoshop 24.1.1. It is under 6 months old, and has 16.0 GBGB of RAM. Its hard drive has 673GB free out of 930GB. The last time I shut down was last night. I have never run a cleanup program.
Damien Symonds Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 That should all be fine. From Bridge, there are two ways to open a raw file. One is Ctrl O (for "Open") and the other is Ctrl R. Can you try both and see if one works better than the other?
Meegan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Neither option works... This is what happens with ctrl R This is what happens with ctrl O
Meegan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Both options kinda freeze the screen and I have to 'end task' in Task Manager to close either program
Damien Symonds Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Where are these raw files? Are they on your internal hard drive?
Meegan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Yes on my internal hard drive. I got this laptop less than 2 months ago and the raw files used to open correctly, so I'm not sure what's changed...
Damien Symonds Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Well, it must have been a recent update to Photoshop. So I think you should go to your Creative Cloud app and roll back to the previous version. Other people have had to do this too, for various reasons.
Meegan Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Resolved - I had to revert back to Photoshop 24.0 and ACR 14.5 to get it to work!
