JennyTompkins
I've been a LR user for 10yrs. I'm starting over with a brand new non-MAC computer and diving into Bridge. I just plugged in my camera and am using the Bridge Photo Downloader interface that popped up to upload 649 images from my camera to my brand spankin' new PC. It's been copying/converting to .DNG for about 10 minutes and I'm only about a third of the way in. Importing through LR this would have taken maybe 3-4 minutes total. Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks!

JennyTompkins
I've always converted to .dng so my husband who sometimes accesses my files but refuses to use anything other than Windows photo viewer can open them. This is my first class from you. Have a better option for how to save .CR2 files?

At the end of each year he takes all stills and videos taken on every device by every family member and creates a highlight reel of the year. His hatred of LR rivals your own and is a main reason I'm switching to Bridge. I have all my work beautifully catalogued in LR, but since he doesn't have LR, he just sees an ugly dump of endless files in a big huge "My Lightroom Folder". He has to weed through all my client work to try to find family photos.
Damien Symonds
Right, so why doesn't he use Bridge? You have to break out of the DNG thing. It's such a hassle for backups.
JennyTompkins
Just got back from vacation... sorry for the late reply. Husband doesn't use Bridge because he thinks Windows Photo Viewer, Windows video maker, and Microsoft Paint are the Bees Knees of all that is awesome. He lumps Adobe with Apple products and will not touch them. (Though he just got a new job at Facebook. He received the list of computers he could select from for his home office and they are all Macs! If the money weren't so good he would rescind his acceptance immediately. He's been pretty grumpy.) We live in a very computer and software contentious household. But he is gracious enough to manage all my backups and has never mentioned the DNGs being a problem. What hassles have you encountered?
