Bridget
Hi Damien, I can't seem to open files from Bridge to RAW. When I tried initially, the files were opening in Elements. I checked my Creative Cloud desktop and didn't seem to have Camera Raw, so I have installed it and it now shows up on my CC desktop. However now when I double click the photos I won't to open in Bridge, nothing at all opens.
Damien Symonds
Hi Bridget, could you show me a screenshot of Bridge?
Damien Symonds
Are you still around, @Bridget?
Bridget
I am now. Screenshot incoming.
Damien Symonds
Those are jpeg files. Let's talk about raw files please.
Bridget
Yes well I had a major whoopsie and at some point accidentally changed my camera settings to take JPEGs instead of RAW. And didn't notice for more than a year. All my RAW are off the internal HD and google told me I could open JPEGs in ACR so I tried to continue with the JPEGs. I can transfer some RAWs from by archive though... give me a minute.

Damien Symonds
Okay, and if you select one of those raw files, then double click it, it opens in Camera Raw okay?
Bridget
Nope, nothing happens. Well, a brief spinning blue wheel, then nothing.
Bridget
I bought the three year license to Elements. Elements doesn't show up in CC desktop. Bridge does. And ACR does too, now that I have downloaded it.
Damien Symonds
In that case, select one file, then hit this button:
Bridget
Get "Camera Raw editing is not enabled" etc Same when I right click and "open in camera raw". Edited March 1 by Bridget
Damien Symonds
No worries. And if you right-click on a photo, and choose "Open With" is Elements an option in there?
Bridget
Yes. "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor 25.0 (default) comes up first, below that 'Browse', below that 'Change Associations'.
Damien Symonds
Okay, and if you choose Elements ... ?
Bridget
Nothing happens. Prior to downloaded ACR, double clicking would open in Elements.
Damien Symonds
Right. Downloading ACR messed something up. You DEFINITELY didn't need to do that. Let's try something different. Go to Elements itself, choose File>Open, and navigate to a folder of raw files and open one. Does it open okay?
Bridget
Hm... it isn't opening.
Bridget
Specifically, Elements itself isn't opening. Edited March 1 by Bridget

Bridget
I have a PC desktop running Windows 10 and Elements 2025. It is over 6 years old, and has 8GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 44.9GB free out of 118GB, and it runs a Radeon Vega Graphics graphics card. The last time I shut down was more than a week ago, because I'm an idiot. I rarely run a cleanup program. 😆 (I did very recently run a Glary Utilities clean up) Edited March 1 by Bridget

Damien Symonds
Have you restarted now?
Bridget
Yes. And Elements opens. Who would have guessed? Prompts me to install the ACR plug in which I am doing now.
