Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Hi Damien, I can't seem to open files from Bridge to RAW. When I tried initially, the files were opening in Elements. I checked my Creative Cloud desktop and didn't seem to have Camera Raw, so I have installed it and it now shows up on my CC desktop. However now when I double click the photos I won't to open in Bridge, nothing at all opens.
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Hi Bridget, could you show me a screenshot of Bridge?
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Those are jpeg files. Let's talk about raw files please.
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Yes well I had a major whoopsie and at some point accidentally changed my camera settings to take JPEGs instead of RAW. And didn't notice for more than a year. All my RAW are off the internal HD and google told me I could open JPEGs in ACR so I tried to continue with the JPEGs. I can transfer some RAWs from by archive though... give me a minute.
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Okay, and if you select one of those raw files, then double click it, it opens in Camera Raw okay?
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Nope, nothing happens. Well, a brief spinning blue wheel, then nothing.
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 I bought the three year license to Elements. Elements doesn't show up in CC desktop. Bridge does. And ACR does too, now that I have downloaded it.
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 In that case, select one file, then hit this button:
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 (edited) Get "Camera Raw editing is not enabled" etc Same when I right click and "open in camera raw". Edited March 1, 2025 by Bridget
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 No worries. And if you right-click on a photo, and choose "Open With" is Elements an option in there?
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Yes. "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor 25.0 (default) comes up first, below that 'Browse', below that 'Change Associations'.
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Nothing happens. Prior to downloaded ACR, double clicking would open in Elements.
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Right. Downloading ACR messed something up. You DEFINITELY didn't need to do that. Let's try something different. Go to Elements itself, choose File>Open, and navigate to a folder of raw files and open one. Does it open okay?
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 (edited) Specifically, Elements itself isn't opening. Edited March 1, 2025 by Bridget
Damien Symonds Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Can you do this? https://www.damiensymonds.net/thread1.html
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Oh man this isn't going to be good... but OK
Bridget Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 (edited) I have a PC desktop running Windows 10 and Elements 2025. It is over 6 years old, and has 8GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 44.9GB free out of 118GB, and it runs a Radeon Vega Graphics graphics card. The last time I shut down was more than a week ago, because I'm an idiot. I rarely run a cleanup program. 😆 (I did very recently run a Glary Utilities clean up) Edited March 1, 2025 by Bridget
Bridget Posted March 2, 2025 Author Posted March 2, 2025 Yes. And Elements opens. Who would have guessed? Prompts me to install the ACR plug in which I am doing now.
