How to make more magical...

I'm trying to do a photo with the kids looking out the window at santa, similar to first picture (not my image). I was wondering what I could do to improve mine of the boy in red and girl to make it look more magical. Thank you.

The first thing that strikes me is that you made the kids too bright.

Now, you'll need to tone down his glowing ears somehow.  May I see them close up?
