  1. Hi Brian! I haven't visited in a while because I was saving up for a new editing computer, which I finally got! Yay! I was so excited to get it all set up and finally get moving along again, until..... I noticed there is no disc drive. I recently purchased PSE15 specifically to run with this new machine, but it's the actual disc version. All my other gadgets (Wacom tablet, Spyder), I was able to find drivers online to get them up and working. But I don't think that's how software works. Am I going to have to purchase a download of this program? Or is there a download code inside the package? I haven't opened it for fear of not being able to return it once I do. Also....no card reader. I'd love a good recc there too. Thanks so much! *attached screenshot is my new toy. This thing FLIES. Especially compared to my ancient laptop.
  2. Repairs are definitely a concern. This brand seems to be well known in the gaming community, but that doesn't really tell either of us where to take it if it breaks down. Maybe a generic computer doctor type place, as opposed to somewhere like Geek Squad. Does the price seem reasonable for the features that are included? Or should I keep shopping around?
  3. That link doesn't appear to show the model to which I'm referring. Let me try again.
  4. Hi Brian and Damien! I've been looking in to purchasing a new desktop for editing for several weeks. I've read your recommendations for processor speed, RAM, etc, and have come across this brand. I've never heard of it before, and online research has found gaming reviews only. What are your thoughts on gaming computers for our line of work? Specifically this model, as it seems to have all the specs I would need and is (almost) in my price range. Thanks for your advice! http://www.hhgregg.com/mobile/category/10662/orderBy/6
  5. Awesome! Thank you good Sir! I'll post back in this thread if I run in to a snag. Which I can almost assure you will happen. Ha! Loving the Forum! So streamlined and easy to use!
  6. I'm worried about losing his head in the background on that first one. I'm thinking a Levels layer or two may take care of that. Yes?
  7. You think so? Because that would be awesome! The locket I plan to give is one that will be attached to her bridal bouquet. The locket/charms I've found are usually either 3cm square, or a similar size round. Any advice on which one to use, or how to spiff it up for my project? The finished item will look something like this. https://www.etsy.com/listing/247412765/customized-photo-charm-for-bridal?ref=related-2
  8. Hi D! Just spent the past couple of days checking out the new digs, and I'm liking it so far! My question is: I would like to make a gift photo locket for my dear friend whose father has passed away, and have it be a surprise for her wedding. The only photos I have access to, without spoiling my surprise, are her FaceBook uploads. I know those files are tiny, and not very good quality. Will I be able to make my gift locket from downloading a FB photo? Or am I wasting my time with this route? I hope I'm asking this in the right topic, since I'm guessing this is an output question. Some samples of the photos I've found are attached. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
